Gearbox mounts came undone. Still shifting smooth! But clutch was a bit clunky when engaging. The 4 bolts under the air box are missing. Anyone know the length, width, pitch, etc of those bolts? They’re #52 in this diagram 1991 348 GTS 2.7 https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part-finder/ferrari/348/oe/3/5/187?h=2754 Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! All 4 bolts are missing and it was hanging off being held on by the subframe brace and engine mount studs* Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
I might know Thursday when a 348 shows up at my garage for some work. I'll pull one out and measure it.
Yea, I won’t drive it. However, I probably have quite a bit already ;( It’s the gearbox rebuilt by Ernie on this forum; he’s got a big thread on the process. Let’s hope all the nice new parts held up. Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
M10 1.25 40mm with a washer and lock washer worked. I got grade 10.9. Used loctite too!! 60F day in December. Went to Ace and bought many options! Lol Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
30mm length would have been better. FYI Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
They are screwed down from the top not the bottom. They won't fall out, if they are missing they wear not put back most likely. Sounds like an easy fix!
Definitely handling more predictable now! There was a washer on-top of the gear box. I bet they weren’t torqued and once the mount came loose, the mount/gearbox fell down and vibrations/bounces popped the bolts up. Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
I used JB Weld on the threads to ensure they don’t come loose. I also guided the threads with tap/dye set since the bolts were going in a bit firm prior. Thank you for helping make Ferrari ownership affordable! FChat community is great.
I’m just joking about the JB. I used washer, lock washer, and orange permatex (removable/semi-permanent). I like the orange permatex for this application. I use blue loctite on most other stuff. On my Datsun I use something on most every thread as that thing vibrates itself to death, and prevents corrosion on threads. I torqued to 40ft/lbs.
