My first adventure in what I thought was a more involved liquids project is now complete with little drama. I should have taken pictures. The only challenge is refilling the box, as the fill hole is about two inches from an exhaust line that makes pouring impossible. You can buy a hand pump at Wallymart or most auto supply stores, pour in your oil and pump until it starts trickling out. No problems.

Which car was this - the 412 or the 365?

The 365. The rear axle is next and looks somewhat easier.

    Dave,
Awesome job! It is springtime and my house is turning into a quicklube or in my case "slolwlube". Changed transaxle in the Pantera and engine oil. Didn't notice that the old oil filter gasket was stuck on the block. Two oil filter gaskets hold approximately 15 PSI for five seconds the other 20 PSI was pumping fortunately only six quarts on the floor. The 365 GT4 motor is still at the builder and the car is in the bodyshop. The riding lawn mower got the oil changed as the push mower, hopefully can get to the Harley this week. Let me know how the diff goes. What lube did you end up using? I know you were pondering that one for a while.

I used Mobil 1 75 w 90. It seems to shift better when cold. I also just picked up five 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 for the 412 and 328. They're up next. The 365 is going into Norwood's for fresh brake lines and fresh tires tomorrow.
