From Frank Williams: "I'd like to see the two of them race. Ferrari have never allowed Barrichello to race Michael on level terms." "It would be helpful to the sport in terms of boosting its global appeal if Ferrari were to let Michael be challenged by his teammate." Frank, if you want to help F1's "global appeal" maybe YOUR team and YOUR drivers should challenge Ferrari. That might help. I am actually not sure what Williams was trying to achieve by saying this. Is he hoping that Ferrari would do it and therefore slow them up because of stupid moves like his team members exhibit? Is he trying to incite rebellion from RB? Is he trying to imply that MS is not as good as he seems because Ferrari is holding RB back? Or, does he actually mean it? I hope it is not the last, because if it is, then the man's brains must have leaked out of his ear's at some point. Whoops, wrong forum. Moderator, can you please move this to the racing forum. Sorry about the mistake.
Me too, MS has nothing to be worried about. Yes that is how I thought the sport worked too ... I have to make the point that Frank Williams has always let his drivers race and has lost many (make that lots) of WC's because of that ... but to his credit he has never changed his views. Pete
You know what would TRUELY HELP F1. What would truely help F1 if Sir Frank Williams could stop whinning and develop two cars that could compete with the Ferraris. What would help F1 if Sir Frank Williams would fire the useless JPM and get a better driver who could actually challenge MS. What would truely help F1 is if Sir Frank WIlliams would mind his own racing uncompetitive racing team and make it more competitive. Just because he cannot win races and championships does not mean that he should poke his nose into internal workings of other teams. I understand everyone has the right to their opinion. but when you are the principal of another racing you should really not tell what another team should do. that is why I like Ferrari. they do not play this political game. They just go out there and race and do the best they can. Frank Williams plays these political games and makes comments like that thinking he can create a rift in the Ferrari team and get Rubens to become rebelious. RB and MS are the best team in F1. The constructors championship is a team title. Frank Williams is marginalising imself by making such stupid comments. Too bad he cannot develop two cars that can compete with the Ferraris. Now that would truely help F1 become a global competitive motor sport.
I nearly choked when I saw that statement Ferrari are, and have always been, political animals in this game and always will be....you won't survive otherwise . Racing inside the team is bloody stupid and wasteful of the racing resources and lives as per GV and DP back in the early 80s when Ferrari were the class of the bunch (for the young in here GV=gilles villeneuve, DP=didier pironi)
Enzo was far more of a political stirrer than the current Ferrari bosses. We would never have had these stupid rule changes aimed at slowing down Ferrari if Enzo was alive ... he would simply have built a CART style car (again) and the F1 bosses would have **** themselves and left the rules alone I agree that they still play the game, but not as ruthlessly as the man Enzo Ferrari. Pete ps: Take it easy on the choking ... you have already given us a big enough scare mate
