Very cool! Thanks for posting this.

If you haven't yet, you should read his book titled: "Yeager: An Autobiography". Fascinating stuff.

I do have that book. I got it when it was first published and I was lucky enough to have the General sign it!

    Cheers.

Interesting story about that book. The General doesn't live all that far from here and he is listed in the phone book. An old friend bought his father a copy and dialed up Gen Yeager to ask him to sign it. He was apologetic about disturbing him and said he must get people calling him all the time bugging him for that. The General said, "No Roger, you are the only one who has had the stones to call me at home. Send it on over, I'll be happy to sign it and write a little message to your Dad".

Well that all happened and Roger got his Dad a cool Fathers Day present.

A couple of years later Gen. Yeager wrote another book. Roger called him again and said "General, I don't know if you remember me but I sent you a book a couple of years ago to sign" The General broke in and said "Hell yes Roger, I remember you, you are still the only one with stones enough to call me at home". Roger tells me he had a very nice conversation with him for 20 minutes or so and ended with making arrangements to send Yeager another book to sign.

True story and I always got a kick out of Roger retelling it. The General is quite a bit older now and I really hope this does not cause a bunch of people to start trying to find his home listing.

Nice! I did get the chance to see and hear him speak at one of the Edwards AFB events I went to about 20 some odd years after I read that book. I could care less about the fanfare of celebrities in general but it was a treat to see and hear the man in person that day.

Wow, that's a great story! Comical.

Chuck Yeager has been a hero of mine since I was a kid. What I wouldn't give to have lunch with him.

Thanks for posting this!!! AWESOME stuff.
