It appears that a ridiculous number of older bikes for sale don’t have titles. I was in the car business for 50 years, for whatever that’s worth, and generally wouldn’t touch a car that didn’t come with a title. I did do the Vermont process 40 years ago on an old pickup.
I’m not looking at any particular bike but I’m curious what the F-Chat faithful have to say. The ads often end with “Its easy- buy it and get a Vermont title.”
If it’s that easy, do it before you market it?

    Cheers and happy holidays,
    Tom B

This discussion skirts the grey area of what’s legal. I think for cars and bikes you can get a shop to do a mechanics lien then apply for a title in most states.

I’ve also seen bike titles and vin tags for sale at swap meets. I would imagine more bikes are legitimately abandoned because they’re less valuable and smaller.

Vermont is very easy and about 30 days out currently. Contact me if you have any questions.
