Gang, I just saw on TV that Geneva is having a gala dinner (Sept 17) and a Car Concours on Sept 18 for charity, benefitting MS. The car show is on 3'rd street which is two blocks SW of Roosevelt Rd (Rt 38) and Rt 31 along the Fox River. Geneva is just south of St Charles and about 45 minutes west of O'Hare. They have a web site at www.genevaconcours.com or a phone number to call 1-800-FIGHT-MS.
Sponsores include Porsche, Continential, Fox Valley Motors, etc. You can volunteer to help, show a car, or just go to watch. I don't know the classes, I've placed a call for more details. Fashion shows at the dinner and at the show. Dinner looks like black tie, going to have to dust mine off, but now to find a date. It's a good cause. More details as I find out or if others know about this. No Andreas I don't think I'll show, ummm, well let's see the classes first, You never can tell.

    Update:

The dinner is black tie and runs $200/person, remember CHARITY
Concours is free to enter. Expecting high end cars, so I'm out. but broken down into: Antiques <1929, Classics 1929-WWII, Milestones 50/60's, Post War, and Modern Exotics -where the Ferraris will be. They are also offering special parking for clubs or corrals for non judged cars. Mike E is involved in the judging from what they told me. Last year they had over 80 cars participate. PCA is having their own judged concours there at the same time. So I plan to go to the show, and yes Andreas I will drive my toy, but it won't be judged. Anyone else interested in meeting up there? I told them that if enough poeple agree to come I would call them back and they can reserve parking for the group.

Anyone else agree that their website is one of the most poorly designed on the net??

Anybody want to tell me WHERE on the site someone would find info on actually ATTENDING the gala dinner?

Anybody see a description on the site of where EXACTLY the concourse is being held?

I was born & raised in Geneva, currently live around 12 miles away & work in St. Charles - up until this morning, I hadn't heard anything about the event.

This should have been advertised on WGN radio to get some attention - heck, the website touts the host (Jack Taylor) as being the "voice of WGN" years ago.

I might agree that their web site isn't up to specs. However if you call their number you'll get at least five back, I did. I found out while flipping through the TV, I think on FOX the day I posted this thread.

I did give out the instructions on where the concours was being held in the first section of this thread. However, I haven't seen much response from anyone except Frank (can't make it now) on wanting to get together out there. I still plan to attend around 9:00 am - 12:00 noonish. Anyone else interested in meeting up? A qucik breakfast somewhere? They will hold space for Ferraris is we let them know how many might show up. So who is interested?

I'll be there. They asked me to bring the Mangusta, but I'm not through reinstalling the engine. I gave them the option of the Dino or the Espada, and they opted for the Espada. So.....I'll be taking the Lambo Limo on Sunday.

Guess that means I'll have to stop by on Sun to check out the Espada :)

p.s.: I asked 6 different BIG car nuts if they knew anything about the concours. The uniform consensus was: Huh? What car show?? 2 of the 6 said they would have ponied up the $200 for the dinner if they had known about it earlier.

Frank, I gave them the FOC, FCA, PCA, LCA, and fchat contact info during last year's show. There were about 60 cars last year. This year's show will have cars that are worthy of Pebble Beach concours. We'll be there with a bunch of Lambos.

Well now I can't make this show, work commitments on a project. So who ever goes take lots of pics and please post them. I also was told that a number of Pebble Beach quality cars are expected to be displayed. So have fun and I'll catch you all on the Rt 66 cruise.

PS: If anyone wants to see pics from PB, I'll bring a CD worth of them for you to borrow. I'll have them for the Rt 66 cruise

If you're in the area & haven't stopped by the Geneva Concours - you are missing out on a fine display!

Plenty of parking for Ferraris, Lamborghinis, & Porsches just behind the courthouse.

For me, it was worth the trip (heck, I'm only about 20 minutes away) to meet Daryl and have the chance to roll my eyes all over his beautiful Espada. If it doesn't win some kind of prize (even if just for total square footage of black paint...though the Duesenburg might just grab that award) something is just not right :)

By stroke of luck I made it out! Saw Daryl's Espada, What a monster! Just huge! It was worth the trip for me to try and squeeze into an Ultima GTR.....I was unsuccessful in doing so! :( :( :(

BILL, I can't fit in a friggen Ultima!! Im bummed, that I need a smaller bum!

I know a Duesenburg won, but I don't admire to many of those old metal bricks much....except Bentleys and the RR Fantom.

Everyone write down their "best in show"...
mine, I think It would still have to goto the 250TR (love it!)

So Daryl, was your car touched by some little kid, whose parents must run the Crystal Meth in that town? Im sorry, but they had no control over him what so ever! Oh yeah I was wearing a Lotus T-shirt ;)

Oh yeah...I've got tons of pics to post!
