Who's going to my favorite event the Geneva Concours on 8/22? Does anyone know if there will be a Ferrari section of the parking lot again this year and if so, do we need to register for it?

I'd be there if it weren't on the same day as the Milwaukee Masterpiece. :(

Unfortunately it is also the same weekend as the ALMS Race / Road Racing Showcase at Road America. The Geneva Concours is truly one of the most top notch shows in the region - I'm sorry I'll have to miss it this year. Then again, with a brat and a corn on the cob in hand and the Risi Competitzione F430 screaming by about 20 feet from my lawn chair...I won't be all that sorry.

I plan on going to the ALMS race testing on Friday. It's really to bad this is the same week. They also have another small concours up in Minneapolis this weekend. I wish they would all plan the dates together, as it hurts everyone in the longrun. I went the Geneva concours a few years ago and it is not nearly as good as the Milwaukee Councours.
Maybe they should move it to the next weekend, or they will only continue to loose more attendance as MC gets bigger and better. The MC has to have it this week as they are getting cars coming back from Pebble Beach. Geneva does not have cars from Pebble Beach so they can have it any weekend.

I'm definitely going.....even got off work so I don't have to contract something! ;) I was going to put my car in with PCA but it says you have to stay with your car the whole day. I want to be able to walk around with my son, so I'll probably just drive there and walk it. The worst part will be having to drive all the way from the west side of Geneva to the central part. Just kidding!

They say that every year. Truth is, you can leave whenever you want you just have to temporarily move aside a barricade. Last year, the Ferraris were in the parking lot behind the courthouse. I had no problem leaving right after lunch. Porsches were more numerous and therefore had thier own street but I don't think they all stayed till the end either.

To address your statement that "they should all plan the dates together"...There are only so many Sundays in the car show/race season...and we all feel "our" event is the most important one, so which one you may, or may not attend is a personal decision.

Certainly, efforts are made to look at what else may be going on at the same time, but you have to do the best you can and pick a date...and run with it...sometimes over a year away.
It's not easy and you can never accommodate everyone.

As to Geneva, it's not in competition with Milwaukee, and I don't think it's their intention to be. They do very well on their own and have no shortage of "Pebble" level cars at their disposal. They certainly cater to the Ferrari Club and they appreciate our support and we appreciate them.

Should anyone be thinking of attending...please register immediately...their registration closes on Aug. 16th.

    Drew.

    Hi Drew,

I am not saying it is anyones fault about the dates, but from next year on you should think about adjusting to another weekend(plenty of weeks from May-September with September having the nicest weather for the area, and its a Sunday so the kids can still come). From just this board you can see alot of people who can't make your show due to the Milwaukee Masterpiece. You will continue to loose Chicago area attendees as they learn about the MMC, since you are in direct competition with them no matter if you like it or not. I have nothing to do with the MMC, I am just trying to help you out. I would like to also attend the Geneva Concours. Remember, MMC cannot adjust their date since cars come in from Pebble Beach from the previous week on the way back to Europe or the east coast.

There is a Ferrari area in the lot behind the courthouse but note that the show is Sunday, not tomorrow.

Wow! You all have a fantastic day, looks like the weather is going to work for you. I'm off to a Ferrari tech. session and it will only be slightly over 100 where I'm at. Don't worry, it is a dry heat.:D:D:D:D

Great pics badges! I wish I'd connected with you there. You'll note the car seat on the passenger side as I brought my 4 year old with me for her first full day car show experience. Did you bring the 996? Loved that black '89 Speedster.

My son saw the car seat and thought that was cool! I looked around but didn't see anyone sitting around the Ferraris. I was hoping to meet you. I ended up parking my car on the corner by the North entrance to the courthouse since we got there at 9:00. I had my brother (we call him Wang because he's into photography big time) take some good pics of your car. As soon as he gets them to me, I'll email them off to you.

I wish I would have put my car in the show. I let them scare me off with the "you have to sit by your car from 10-4". I'm sure it would have been no problem to disappear for an hour or so and cruise the rest of the show.

I went at 11 AM this morning and it was a blast :D The silver 550 and red 575 were my favorites from the event, but I wish I could have seen the yellow Panoz that badges2 posted. I loved all the British cars there, and they were very nice at the Lotus stand, I got to sit in the Evora :D My 196 pictures from the event: http://rides.webshots.com/album/578436511TrGFeE
