Sbarro have rolled out another classic design at this year's Salon which opens to the public today... More here if you have a strong constitution (based on a 550). Foto Sbarro al Salone di Ginevra 2016, Foto Saloni dell'auto - Omniauto.it Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Ferrari stand was full of people complaining (in several languages) about not being able to get a TDF. While drinking excellent coffee. Ferrari serves the best coffee at motor shows. Porsche has the best beer. (And who says we journalists don't get to the important detail?)
Darius, can follow, these details are not just important for a journalist, but for you it's easier to get them offered☺! Saluti, Jürgen
Hefeweizenbier and weisswurst sausage at 10 am on Tuesday chez Porsche...couldn't do it. Maserati had the prettiest girls, ahem.
Darius, should visit me once, your choice of breakfast with white bavarian sausages/pretzels and sweet mustard or some caviar/pata negra/san daniele ham combined with a nice Franciacorta.......☺ Saluti, Jürgen
Maserati did well to take peoples eyes of the Levante! A couple of good image galleries here in French and German but all rather easier on the eyes than that Sbarro! One of the things I loved about Germany. Eating a breakfast of bratwurst and hefeweissen at the airport or train station in Frankfurt on the way to the UK to teach electronic warfare classes. Sometimes they even had kristall weissen.
That presupposes you consider beer fit for human consumption. Another product of the Fatherland for which I have no use.
Terry, if you're nearby again, you're invited as well for such kind of typical german breakfast☺. Having had a beer brewery course just some weeks ago, I discovered the roots of this tradition and culture just by now. Saluti, Jürgen
I admire Sabarro purly because he is an independant designer who is still in business. In fact he and his students are more modern hot rod builders. I am thankfull these independants are still around. Some of his designs are very clever if not to everyones taste. This car isnt one of his best efforts.
Kristallweizen! The 3 pedal HGTC with 19 inch modulars, Daytonas and leather shelf, of beers. None of that on offer in Geneva, unless I missed it.
Does not seem to have a noticeable positive effect on the final product. I am mostly English and German and as far as I know Gin is the only palatable drink from either culture. Bratwurst on the other hand can be excellent with a little of the proper mustard. Washed down with a Martini I suppose.
Brian- I see a part of you in sore need of a beer education. There are so many different types of beer, there is usually one for everyone. Jürgen- I may take you up on your kind invitation.
You need to try the beer they serve to locals in Bavaria, unless things have changed since I was stationed there in 1953/54, but then we infantry guys would drink anything.
Dave, there is a german beer purity law, reaching back to 1516. It is still valued today, that means, german beers can only be brewed using barley, hops and water. Controls are very strictly followed up by the government, it's a part of our ( not always bright) history. Saluti, Jürgen
Jürgen- Yup, what my local dealer used to order 10 cases at a time for me was Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier. Really great tasting and from the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world. Established in 1040. I always figure anything older than my 1620 lantern clock is really old, and that beats it by a mile.
I remember the bier served in local gasthaus's was very different from the helles or export bier served in higher class restaurants. We drank a LOT of Grüner Brau since I was stationed in Fürth where it was brewed. About the only time I drink beer now is when we are in Mexico and you dare not drink the water. John- Doppelbock (Stark Bier) will knock you on your rear. 7-13% alcohol, more like a bottle of wine. My favorite when I lived in Mauer near Heidelberg was Moninger Kristall Weizen. Tried a bunch and that one did it for me. Unfortunately not imported last time I checked. Always thought the Kristalls were less fattening than the Hefes with unfiltered yeast, but turns out to be just the opposite.
i know. but i have always like the belgian trappist ales, and as long as you treat them in moderation, they are fantastic. so much flavor, mouthfeel, and alcohol. they just arent hot weather beers. or beers to drink if you thirsty. schneider do an ice bock, where they freeze their aventinus, remove the ice, and thus raise the alcohol content from 9.5ish to 11.5 ish. you really have to treat them with respect. (i have about 6 cartons of aventinus filed away, and i drink about 2 a year (bottles that is))
When I moved around the world as a foreign correspondent back in the early 90s, I used to ship a case of Bavarian beer wherever I went as the local stuff was so dull. Now you can't move, specially in north America, without being hit by a local weizenbier. Not sure if any are good as the originals though.
