$10 bucks cheaper here !!! http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?products_id=2420&osCsid=89l0hegkts721d1c507l9i4ka3 Nice stands, I might try to track down a set.
My 308 has tubes, so the semi-v-shaped arm extension of my jack stands fit into the lower portion of the tube perfectly and there is absolutly no chance of slippage. These do look good for the Jaguar where jacking points and jack stand points are more limited.
I saw them there also. Would have come out pretty much the same for me once I added $50 for shipping to the west coast vs. free shipping. Anyway, glad I have them. They are a bit silly expensive but well-made and I'm sure I'll only be buying them once.
Someone is making a killing on those! From the welds it looks like they are made in china, probably for about $4 each. I like the pads on top, but hate the pin lock. The ratchet-style ones are way easier to lift and have more height options for my sloped floor.
I have a nice ratchet-type set from Griot's, still feel vulnerable and claustrophobic under there. My piggybank pennies will get spent on a car lift.
I think we have found the solution, this also won't scratch the frame, but I'd put a soft cloth between just to be sure.
Yeah but you still need to pay for the chain saw when you want to adjust the height QUOTE=Traveler;139330819]I think we have found the solution, this also won't scratch the frame, but I'd put a soft cloth between just to be sure.[/QUOTE]
Now that is a handy post. I should have thought to look but sometimes it just takes a little kick to get the brain engaged.
In all seriousness, instead of spending $18 bucks for a jack pad, use a hockey puck like half the Ferrari Techs in authorized shops.
I have been using the pads for 15 years on my last made in America Lincoln stands. I feel safe under them! Image Unavailable, Please Login
You mean you did not feel safe without the pads? Are jack stands really that unreliable? If the jack stand is going to fail, the pads won't safe you.
I think they're great (and a good price) for cars with tubular frames but not that useful on our normal, every day cars that we also have to put on jack stands at times.
