Does anyone know if there is an alternative car manufacturer that makes a cheap get you home spare wheel that will fit my F355 please ? I know that Ferrari did make one of their own but cannot locate either a new or second hand one.I have discovered that a F360M 17" spare (get you home) wheel will fit but these are huge money new.

I have wanted to test the aluminum spare for a Ford Escape (I think) 5 on 108 with lots of offset. Volvo supposedly fits after slight modification, but most Volvos come with a full size spare and not a minispare.

    Wasn't there a 14", 15", and 16" Ferrari 308 wheel that will fit?

I'm pretty sure even a 16 won't clear the rear caliper. Most of the performance car minispares are 18. I tried to find an example to show from ebay, but the new fees seem to have really cut down on the selection. There is a newish Jag that is 5x108 too I think

I have a spare front wheel. When my wife and I travel, we put the wheel in the trunk upside down with the tool kit in the center of the wheel. It will fit the front or back and gives a piece of mind.

Thanks for all the replies, these were most helpful.I reckon the answer Darell gave could be the best solution, ie carry a full size inflated front wheel and tyre , which fits front or back.

I know my experience probably doesn't mean much, but in 8 years of owning various Ferraris (driving around 8,000 miles per year), I have only once had a problem (clutch throw out bearing failure) and a spare tire wouldn't have helped. Only 35 minutes for AAA to show up and take me to the local Ferrari dealer. :)

Will the rear tire even fit in the front boot? If not, you are going to need a large plastic storage bag and give up the passenger seat to haul it back with you.

Yes, I have to agree with you ,where to put a punctured rear tyre and wheel would be a problem especially if you are already carrying a passenger. I think on balance I will stick with the can of sticky stuff to reinflate the tyre and carry my AA card ! Thanks again.Kind regards,Mike.

I have fitted the stock (rear inflated) tire in the front trunk and it fits fine. You do not need to be concerned about that.

If you tear the tire no amount of spray goop is going to inflate that tire and the damage to your car caused by a tow truck/flat bed operater is not worth it either.....not to mention the wait time.
A full tire, installed in the trunk does not intrude that much in the trunk space either, when its installed rim front side downwards.

Before I got the factory spare (either a 355 or 360 model will work) I purchased a new aftermarket volvo rim (7 inch width)& performance tire and kept it in the trunk all the time. It fits all corners and is a little lighter to boot than the stock rims. Since I have the factory spare now, that brand new 'aftermarket spare tire', is sitting in my basement. Maybe I will sell it on ebay.

The rim is a 17 x 7 inch size 5 spoke polished alloy with a 225/45 x17 tire. This combo is the best for maintaining the closest rolling diameter both front and rear. The rim and tire are both brand new and I also have a custom made tire cover for when its installed in the front boot. I also have the correct concentric ring for the rim as well as the correct chrome lug bolts to bolt (they are shorter than stock) this rim on a 355. I test fitted this rim to the car on both the front and rear and dropped the car back on the suspension to make sure there were no clearence issues with the fenders, suspension (calipers, ect).

I will have to figure out the selling price on the rim but the problem will likely be the shipping to the UK.....this has got to be killer....but if you are interested I can get a UPS quote for you. I can also send you pictures of the wheel and cover.

Note; if the sky's the limit there is a factory spare for sale on ebay right now but I believe they want $1850. for it. You can find it under 'Ferrari spare tire'.

EDIT: just checked ebay and there are 2 rims, one is for a 328 and the other does not list what car it is from.....but it also appears to be a 328 rim

They are dreaming. I bought one early this year for my 348 for AU$180 delivered. :):)

The seller had another one, which I should have bought so I could pass onto another Fchat brother. :(:(

The second wheel sold for AU$160 + whatever delivery was. They both came with the leather mounting buckles.

I saw a 355 factory spare sold in Australia about 3 months ago and it went for $350.00 but they wanted an additional shipping charge of a few hundred dollars and once one factored in exchange and duty and local sales taxes it was going to cost almost $800.00 landed. Its a great deal if you live there.

That spare currently listed at 1850.00 on ebay is totally out of the ballpark (factor in all the before mentioned costs and it will easily exceed 2 g).....but maybe one could email them a reasonable offer ? But you must make sure it is a 355 or a 360 spare (because they do not specify in the ad).....I think it may in fact be a 328 spare.

If the leak is too large, you've got to call AAA. However, if you get that flat where there is no cell service (like on some of the back roads we all like to drive on), and no land line, you've got trouble. Big trouble. A spare is a good way to avoid that little problem.

On long trips, I carry a Tire Plug kit, a mini-compressor and two cans of fix-a-flat.

    Make sure that you:

Know how to plug a tire.
    Buy the good mini-compressor.
    Not the Agip fix-a-flat.

This is because a spare doesnt fit with the Schedoni fitted luggage that I just have to use no matter how crappy it actually is.

Having owned many convertibles with virtually no truck space (especially when you fold the roof in to the trunk) I found the easy way to travel was to put your clothes in zippered clothes bags (the type you hand in your closet on a hanger)....you can hang all your shirts and pants in there and they wrinkle less...& just lay the bags in the trunk. The bags the shape of what ever you have in there.

When you arrive at your hotel you just hang the bags in the closet.

    No bags to load/carry, ect.

I know some will object to this but this allowed me to take many a vacation to Cape Cod with my favourite 2 seater .

Now if your one to take 'the kitchen sink' with you when you travel this will not be acceptable....each to their own but there is another way.
