After debating between a TR or a 348, versus the 348 Spider I decided that I will go for the Spider and the extra $$$ I did not want to spend (my original budget was $50,000).

Why? The 348 Spider is the car I always wanted, regardless of whether it is this or that or this or that is better, this is the car that speaks to me.

It will be f*ck me red/tan interior. It will be 20,000 miles or less, no repairs.

So issues I'd like you guys to address:

    1. Anyone using one of those performance enhancing computer chips, Powerchip I think? What do you think if you are?

    2. Have any photos of replacement wheels you could post? Considering a wheel change. What diameters fit on this car w/o ANY problems like rubbing or spacers needed?

    3. Does anyone put a bra on their 348? I had a bra for my 911 and I thought the black contrast against the red was cool looking AND I had no front end paint issues of course like chips or scrapes. There is some company that makes a $600 bra, but I have also seen the regular $150 type on a yellow 348, that was a three piece unit. If you have one, please post a picture. I know about the 3M stuff, I just think the contrast maybe cool looking, so if you got a pick please post it.

    4. I am SERIOUSLY considering the round light conversion. I have to say I like the NaPerformance kit's look better, but the SL's lack of wire cutting and ease of use looks like returing to stock would be MUCH easier. I'd purchase a new metal piece to do the cutting the SL piece requires and just keep the original as is with the original lights so I always have it to return to as 100% stock. I wonder if the two kits can be combine some way so I can get the NaPerformance garnish look with the SL ease or use/return to stock feature.

    5. Thinking add this might be a cool feature:

Depending on how it attaches, no screw holes for me please.

How are you going to mount that spoiler on a Spider?

    Exactly what I was thinking.

If you want round rear lights, get a 355.The rear lights are one of the things that make a 348.

I think you have enough screw holes already.

Oops you're right, that's what happens when I stay up too late. I had bookmarked a bunch of add ons I found and I just moved the whole folder over. I did not proof read it, when I was still open to the idea of a coupe I bookmarked that spoiler. I have since decided that the car is never coming out if it is not a perfect day and I've never had a convertible, and that is my favorite so that is what I am getting. Just a proof reading error on my part.

I want the cheese graters, so 348 it is. To me the 348 w/ conversion is perfect, you can disagree, its my car and that's how I want it, that's all.

Do I hear the sound of a loose screw somewhere in this thread?

Post some pictures when you get the car or people will start calling you Nik (or Nik's dad) around here. Good luck with the search. For reference I found a 94 348 convertible for my dad about 9 months ago with 27k miles and all major service done recently in Dallas for $55k.

    Joe,

First off allow me to say congratulations on the purchase buddy. Don't let these V12 guys fool you, V8 is where it's at! (I'll be saying vice versa when I drive a V12 ;))

    1. Alot of people use powerchips and whatnot, some of the HP claims are outrageous but you do get quite a bit of power pickup.

    2. Pretty general question, I can show you 100's of aftermarket wheels, what's your style? Lots of spokes, 5 spoke, any brand in particular, etc.

    3. Just my opinion but a bra might look tacky, do the 3M!

    4. I really appreciate you considering the kit I offer, however it's not my kit. It's a kit made by a company in Japan called Veilside. I am no longer offering it because there wasn't enough interest to get the brackets. I can offer you the garnish and whatnot but you'll have to get the brackets made yourself. There was a post and 10-15 people wanted to do this, so I get a groupbuy setup and 3 people responded and only 1 was willing to do it.

So if you need the garnish hit me up but the brackets are no longer available (I'll update the website soon).

Again congrats on the purchase and best of motoring to you if you need anything you can reach me during the day at 405-255-1803 and my cell phone is 405-410-8149 in case there's an emergency or your car is acting quirky, I may be able to assist you. Email- [email protected]

    Regards,
    Kevin
