I have a 1992 512TR and I drove a 550 last week and think I need to make the switch. As I have been looking, I see that the euro models come at a very nice discount. I simply want to drive and enjoy the car (no show or even race). I do have car A.D.D. so I am concerned about having to sell whatever I buy. Am I correct that there is a smaller audience willing to buy Euro models but that the price that I pay already factors the discount which I will pass along to the next buyer with any additional depreciation? Are the things I should know about buying a Euro model? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

No- drove the red one... Black one is nice but the options have pushed the price too high for my interests...

the cars are virtually (if not actually) identical. yes, there is a stigma. you'll get less when you sell it, but you'll pay less when you buy it. i'd bet a zillion dollars the depreciation rate is identical euro -vs- us. make damn sure it's been federalized properly. get a PPI done. my only caveat for you would be that in addition to getting less on resale, it'll probably take longer to sell - so as long as your ADD disorder might have to be quite patient at resale time.

I am somewhat unusual in that I would have NO problem with a Euro. In fact, it still might have some performance advantages. I have heard talk that dealers won't service them which i simply dont believe given the fact that it still means $$$ in thier pocket. U do have to make very sure that the fed job was done up to standard as I got burned somewhat on a euro M6 way back when. they threw away the headers etc. which i had to replace after the fact. good luck it is a great car no matter how U slice it!

What 550 price range are you in? Maybe you can get a US 550 in your ballpark. Yes, a Euro one will save you some $$, but there are also some great US 550 deals out there. I know because I got one of them (great US 550 deal). - Tim

Mark, my 550 was a USmodel but when I got my 360 I wanted tit. with sport seats and 6speed. The one I found was/is a euro. It saved me money, ties up less during ownership, costs of ownership are consequently less, costs of parts the same, weighs 180lbs less, looks the same except for the xenon mandated window washer plug, drives better because it weighs less, etc etc. I would not hesitate for a moment. Buy the best car you can afford and enjoy it. There will always be someone who wants a nice car, be it US or euro.

I believe brother Bruce owns a euro 550 and is throughly pleased? Or has he actually taken it out of the garage then? (BAM!)

Kidding aside, if the car checks out mechanically like any 550, and the paperwork is in order, save the hassle of resale, I would not hesitate with a euro car.

PS: John has one of the nicest 360s period.

Hey Dann, thanks for the props. Hows the bike?

Thanks for the indo and feedback. Lets see some pics of the 360... That is the best color combo / options (seats). Love to see the pics. Also, how much happier are you with the 360- give me some details...

Mark, the 360 is a great car and for taller drivers, maybe the best fit this side of the queen mother(365). I have set mine up to suit my taste, inclination to full throated sound and visuals and am very happy with it. I also like the fact that I don't have to sweat it as much as I would a new 430, as rural living is challenging for cars. Good luck with your decision, John
