Get the Ford GT ! I have had mine since new and it is now Twin Turbo'd and Supercharged. It has been to numerous standing mile events and has a top speed run of 235.7 and I can drive my wife to dinner afterwards. Next to my 599GTB it is my favorite car! Yes, the car was part of the Hennessey Performance display. At that time it was a straight twin turbo set up and now it is the twin turbo / supercharged set up. This GT was the one on Battle of The Supercars two weeks ago.
At that point, the cars that are built for aiming @ 270 mph in the standing mile... they are far less drivable and far more purpose built race car. The car that dg599 had modded is still extremely streetable/drivable every day
First of let me say I love your car, wonderful color combo. What kind of whp did it put down and on how many lbs of boost? Stock motor?
I'm waiting to see a modern GT with this paint scheme and spoke wheels... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah yes, dug out my pics of that show: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
FABULOUS car, colors, and photography. Who's modded doors are those? Is that something you had done, or PO, or one of the mods I've seen on FGT forum? I have TWO 'niggling' negatives with the GT: 1. The doors. Having to leave 3-4 feet on either side (when you can't always control that) could be a pain. Yours has pretty much solved that. 2. The mostly nonexistent trunk. Has anyone ever gotten anything larger than a pair of socks up there? I'd actually want to take a trip in it, but where oh where does the stuff go? Aside from that, I am in Ford GT lust mode.
Not quite, but the same idea Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
On pump gas (93 octane) with 19 lbs of boost I am at 863 to the rear wheels and on full kill with race gas and 21 lbs. of boost well over 900 to the wheels on a stock motor. There has been two Ford GT's that have beat my mile run, with the fastest this year being 267 which is incredible.
What an awesome car, just watched that episode yesterday. I thought it would sweep that Viper in all of the challenges.
Bernard Guerin, who worked at Genaddi Design building the GTX1 roadster conversion of the FGT coupe, is out on his own and has a well designed hinge system for the "scissors" doors, and a nifty carbon fiber insulated luggage tray the sits over the mufflers in the engine compartment that's large enough to hold a golf bag. He also builds smaller luggage bins that fit behind the rear wheels, and a system to reverse the hinges on the engine compartment clamshell so that the opening is at the rear of the car, rather than at the midsection. This makes accessing the luggage carriers very easy. Bernard is based in St. Pete, FL. Expert FGT techs in California and Michigan have installed Bernard's door hinge system for owners that didn't want to get their cars to FL. I have no financial or other connection with Bernard, but have seen his work and spoken with FGT owners about it. All have been complimentary about the products and working with Bernard. All of these mods are applicable to the FGT coupe as well as the GTX1 roadster. Check out Bernard's website at <www.guerin-design.com>. Wow. Had 'heard' of such, wasn't certain if custom one-off or 'produced'. Man, what a labor of love... and of solving a problem! Link didn't work for me, but this might - - http://www.guerin-design.com/products.html Great info. After looking at the prices - though a TON of work to create the specialized products - I'd probably leave the doors as is. But the luggage space is what Ford should've offered from day one. Thanks again.
267 is Rays yellow car correct and the other car is the car from Florida I belive. Beautiful car I have always wanted to ride in one.
Depending on a large number of conditions, such things are vague... but generally for the high end aftermarket cars like the FGT, you add approx. 1/2 the cost of conversion to the normal used car value.
There are several TT cars on the market for roughly $200k. Besides Hennessey, Heffner, ART, and Underground Racing have done very nice TT conversions. My ART setup is fantastic. 840 rwhp on 93 octane, 205.1 in the Texas Mile on only 17 psi.
Here's the build thread on my car: http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?15536-A.R.T.-TT-conversion-pics Go to Page 10 for pics of the manifolding in place.
Anybody have a line in on a low mileage Red and White Stripe Low mileage under 10K 2005 or 2006 GT? I should have pulled the trigger on the one out here at EuroCar OC a few months back, but wasn't sure. There is a nice one at Motorcars Int'l but a bit too high on the price, IMHO.
