When I purchased my 550 the seller didn't have the radio code that is needed after power has been cut to the radio i.e for a battery replacement. With other cars, I have been able to get the code from a dealer after proving ownership.

When I called a Ferrari dealership, I was told that a few years ago Ferrari began charging $150 for this "service". That amount of money is a good start towards a contemporary replacement for the inadequate Sony unit that came with the car. In addition, I need to pull the radio out because there is a bad speaker connection somewhere.

Have you found that other dealers are charging this fee?

Should I begin shopping for a new radio?

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry folks. After posting this I used the search function and answered my own question. Apparently the Sony radios don't require a code.
