The question I have is about getting into a Ferrari dealership and how to go about it. I am a 14year Ford tech..which I know is nothing compared to the car of my dreams, but I consider myself a top rank technician and not a mechanic/parts hanger and yes there is a difference. If anyone could possible help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.. My ultimate dream and goal is to work in F1 at some point in time.. you may email me at [email protected] or just reply to this message..and thanks again for taking the time to help.and i hope me posting this doesnt offend or make anyone upset..if so i am sorry in advance..

    Jeff,

Welcome to FerrariChat and no need to apologize for yourself. You're welcome to post and new, interesting topics are always welcomed.

You're asking about what it takes to become a technician at a Ferrari dealer, is that it?

Good help--real technicians--are hard to find. The real deal should be able to get a job, I would think, though I'm not sure about any politics about getting in to work for a Ferrari dealer.

I do know there are formal certifications that you need to have. You being a technician, you should know of them--that would be a good place to start? The question is, do you study Ferrari work on your own time, or do you try and get someone to foot the bill?

I would think it would be easier to get work at an independent specialist who sees a lot of Ferraris. That way you could get some import/euro experience and actually get your hands into some actual Ferraris...

They want actual Ferrari exp. So do what you have to in order to gain some experience even if you can watch a DIY owner performance some work. Most of them that I know are ex. Jag or BMW/Mercedes Mechanics.

And, be sure you get a 12 cylinder car as your first Ferrari. Otherwise, you will not get the TRUE Ferrari experience.
