Well, I decided to run the gauntlet and try to get my PIN from the factory. I submitted everything on Friday. They tell me that they will send it to FNA and let me know. I guess we will see if it works, if I get the correct pin, and how long it takes. I will update everyone when I get the code or there is a status change.

    Yes, I am an optimist.

    Good luck!!!

If you are successful please let us know what the secret is. I am beginning to think the best solution is 2 fobs via cloning. Then openning one fob and hard wiring it into one of those aftermarket systems that will allow modern features like remote trunck openning, remote start, pushbutton start etc...That more effectively takes Ferrari partly out of the loop with their wonky black/red fobs

Now that second part is something I have been considering. If I get a new set of fobs I could have one cloned onto my current fob and use it to integrate into a system. I was thinking about a keyless ignition, just add a start button.

I recently got a new set of fobs, a key, and a new pin code through silicon valley Ferrari, got it programmed, and works fine.

Quick update. I gave the documentation to my dealer and he asked FNA if they would get the code. FNA told my dealer that they would. I gave them a CC number to my dealer and in about a week I got a PIN code, it just came via email.

I tried to start the car and failed but that could just be me, I have never tried to start with a PIN before. I have the document so I will give it a try again after a while and update when I get it started with the PIN.

    So far, so easy.

i did this. I bought my 99 360 with only one fob, and no PIN. I paid the fee, got the code, and my gamble did not pay off. The code from Italy did not work. I guess it got changed along the road.
I ended up asking gobble (on this forum) to clone my two extra remotes. Problem solved.

That is my concern but it is still where you have to start. I was talking to my mechanic and he said that it has turned into a huge problem for Ferrari. Theoretically they send in the paperwork when they order fobs and the records are updated. In practice your new fobs come, Joe (great customer) comes in and says I need fobs, they give them your fobs and order a new set. NOW the records no longer match the cars and you have the situation that we see today.

The way I see it don't give ferrari another dime. Their alarm system is like a retirement account. That cr@p thing keeps paying them dividends. I clone a second black or at least have the rolling code in lieu of another black. That way I could get back in if my one black dies. Then I would take the black and hard wire it to a modern circuit board that has more modern alarm functions like this thread here that is proven to work in this case on the 550.

With this kind of system which is being used all over in the high end stereo business you can program the new remote to do whatever you want, remote start your car and get the A/C or heat running, push button start, RFID keyless entry, openning up fuel doors and bonnets etc... The OEM Ferrari fob is a battery operated POS only eclipsed in cr@piness by the incestuous hardwiring to the ECU. It needs to go or be bypassed.
