I've been trying to ignore all people telling me you can't drive a nice car in NYC since people will just scratch it, yellow cabs will pay no attention to you and bump in to you etc. Its just not a car-friendly city people kept telling me. But yesterday made rethink that.

Yesterday when my wife and I were driving up Bowery and stopping at a red light at Houston a guy comes up to the car and throws himself over my front hood and runs off but only to come back and do it once again. By that time I started to take off with him still on the hood but since it was still a red light I was stuck. We were both chocked and everything happened so fast. When he ran off the second time I was about to go after but with heavy traffic it wasn't an option. For some reason I always keep a riding crop in my car but completely forgot that I had it with me. In a perfect world I would had jumped out from the car and given him what he deserved... but in a perfect world I guess this never would have happened?

Should I just give in and sell the Ferrari and buy a Crown Vic?

Used E class AMG in the City with a garage in Westchester for the Ferrari
Cars get beat in Manhattan. I had a Jetta GLI in Manhattan for one year of my medical school...that car aged 15 years during those 12 months....terrible. There are some great things about the City, car ownership is not one of them.

In my oppinion it is not only a case for NYC. Same here in Istanbul beautiful drive the car in some time. But be aware of , holes and bumps especially after roadwork , careless public transport drivers , pieces dropped by extremely loaded excavation trucks on highway (nowadays many construction around Istanbul) , exploaded truck tire parts on leftlane and extremely heavy traffic due to roadwork example 2 hours drive for 7-8 mile distance etc.

Similar thing happens here especially gipsy kids are trying to sell napkins or water on the red light stops. Sometimes i buy from them just not to argue.

One more thing which is a brilliant idea for them not for me of course, there are lottery seller guys around here. They sell ready played lottery tickets (most of them official) when you are on stop/go traffic while they are passing you and drop a bunch of ticket on your windshield wiper and pretend that they are not aware and then they come back , knock your window and pushing you to buy those and say to you it is your destiny. Oh how come these lottery tickets stick on my windshield viper? :)
