I was reading about this car on the archive part of VeloceToday.com, and wondering if it hsas been printed who imported it to GB
or what car dealer Dan Margulies in the UK sold it for? Not interested in the car's price changes in modern times by the time Ferraris turned to gold.

Also I assume Ghia-Aigle was the licensed Swiss franchise of Ghia but did customers have a choice of Ghia or Ghia-Aigle? Why did Ghia Aigle exist, because if the body was built in Switzerland it costs the customer less to buy a given car?

.Also a few years ago I thought I saw a turquoise blue body of a car lying in an alley in Bellflower with the same roofline. No engine, drivetrain, interior or suspension. Could that be the same or a similar Ghia-Aigle coupe. I'm embarrased to say I didn't ask anybody what the car was.

May I suggest to consult the book "Making a Difference - Coachbuilt Road Going Ferraris of the Fifties and Sixties", published 2006, by Le Edizioni di Opificio in Italy, Italian and English text, authored by Angelo Tito Anselmi and Marcel Massini.

The article by Warren de France on 0137 E (www.velocetoday.com) is not correct (see my website www.ghia-aigle.info/1951_ferrari.htm). To my information F. John Buckland (GB) owned the car in the 1970s, and the car was sold in 1985 through Dan Marguelis (GB) to Robert Marceca, New York (USA). The importer to GB (Buckland?) and selling prices are not known.

Ghia Aigle was a foundation by Paul Genet (CH), Edouard Monney and Piero Filippi (I) with labour support by and a license to use the name of Ghia Torino. Ghia Aigle exists because importing a chassis and building a car in Switzerland was cheaper than importing a car to Switzerland. So customers had the choice to order a Ghia Aigle in Switzerland or a Ghia in Italy.

0137 E and the sister car 0195 EL exist (see my website). The third Ghia Aigle car 0187 EL (see www.ghia-aigle.info/1951_ferrari0187.htm) is lost. Do you have a photo of the car body which you saw?

As a side note (Don't I love to derail the conversation?) I well remember when Mark Dees had 0195. It was so different from one side to the other that he was seriously thinking of reconstructing the body to cure what he perceived as its evils. I mean it was inches off. Now back to our program...

To my knowledge later owner David L. Rodd "corrected" the asymmetry. To my opinion correcting 1950s artisan craftwork is a historical sacrilege like correcting the asymmetry in the face of Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa.

There were also some air vents cut each side to the rear of the wheels arches.

I found a entertaining old article on FCA-SW website by Ed Niles re this Ghia Aigle coupe:

FCA Southwest Region - Sempre Ferrari Articles

which tells the first half of the story of the Ghia coupe bought by Autobooks bookstore founder Harry Morrow (bought over in Europe? Price?) but the story is cut off just when Mark Dees, having bought the Ferrari, finds out ol' Harry Morrow, maybe in his cups, sold it to someone else and didn't tell Dees so Dees then had to worry about someone coming up and saying "Hey I own that car." Now it could have turned out that there's a reasonable explanation because, in another story mentioning the car on VeloceToday.com Larry Crane says that he agreed to buy the car for $1500 but a few days later got a draft notice and had to pass on the Ferrari so maybe Harry was meaning "agreed to be sold" but since Larry had received his draft notice a few days later he was otherwise distracted and didn't go back for the Ferrari. I wonder if Dees got it for the same $1500? I remember going to Dees' ranch where he entertained Ferrari clubbers somewhat later but this was probably several years later since it was the early '70s

In the '80s I was driving down an alley in Bellflower,CA and saw the chassis and partial body (back half) of what looked like a Ghia Ferrari in an alley but when I went back to check on it, it was gone, maybe only left out temporarily to dry after being painted.
