My 1967 Ghibli came with factory two-point lap belts. Somewhere along the way, a previous owner installed three-point belts. I like the three-point belts since they make me feel safer and more secure. The problem is, the belts are static and not retractable. They don't have a "reel". The folks at DEW Motorcars ordered an aftermarket, retractable 3-point set of belts, but there is very little room between the lower seat cushion and the sill to mount the reel.

Has anyone successfully mounted retractable seatbelts in their Ghibli? Any suggested vendors?

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi David:

I installed a set of 3-point retractable seat belts, with inertial reels from this supplier:

Retractable Seat Belts ( Item Item # WELR )

The reel sits on the top of the rear wheel hump and was bolted through. You can see the black reels in this photo.

    They work great.

Talking about seat belts, I've used these people with great success for several classic cars:

    FDTS Ltd - Index Page

Their selection of belt fabrics, colors and reels, is a lot more detailed than I expected... quite impressive. Excellent service as well.

Thank you all for your input. I think I will have to place the reel on the top of the wheel hump because I've found that there is just no room for the reel on the floor next to or behind the seat.
