Ghost 458 spiders

Gentlemen

I have been hearing that if you are a new customer and walk into a dealership and request a 458 spider, the wait is 1 to 2 years. However I have also been heating that people who are fed up with the wait and tell their dealer that they are going to buy a mclaren spider or a used spider instead are able to get new spiders magically produced by their dealer... Anyone have comments on this ??

Is the situation the same with coupes?

 

I have no first hand knowledge one way or another....but it just doesn't sound right. I doubt it's true.

 

... I would imagine that most that would use that line, end up driving a McLaren

I obviously cannot speak for the sales department, much less other Dealerships , but there seem to be entirely too many clients in the " game " that a dealership would burn all of them for a one time sale...

Has anyone read, or heard, how many 458 spiders Ferrari is building/turning out per week? Wonder what Ferrari hopes their total 2013 production of 458 spiders will be? Based on so many people wanting the spider, I would guess they will build as many as they possibly can. Numbers?

 

For what it's worth I was told that my dealer will only entertain an order if you have a "relationship" with said dealer. Sometimes if you've bought one used Ferrari that's not enough. Also, the business relationship that you have with the dealer goes a long way in terms of allocation.

 

I got the exact same answer from a local Ferrari dealer as relates to 458 Spider. However, he said they'd get me into a 458 coupe in less than 6 mos.

 

I have a 458 coupe and my dealer offered me an allocation spot on a spider for delivery in July. So I I think there is room available for high volume dealers that have allocations pre-arranged or they dealer trade for.

 

I got offer a spider with 40k mark up asked by the sales person. don't know if he will split it with the owner
