I showed them the picture of the 'Zoot Suit' Les Paul he owns and they all rolled their eyes! It turns out there were VERY few of those made... It's generational, to me, B.B. King, Elvin Bishop....made the ES iconic. They tried three or four times to build Elvin another "Red Dog" and none of them matched it! And he had swapped a "bad" string breaking Fender for it, somewhere in the mists of time, in Chicago. Yes, the new location on Yale...I had no idea it was even there! And they are handling Ludwigs again, at one point they split the sheets with Ludwig, selling me a $3,500 kit, for $1,200. Life all evens out.....
I did have an old family friend standing by...if I was going to give it away, it was going to be him matching my high offer! Already retired, that last number sailed right out of his range!!
