That in 1993 what is now your F40 (road car) was driven by the Scuderia's F1 drivers of the day, Alesi & Berger? Wanna see a pic or 2?
or add another post count also , "drum roll" ......very good seeing as it is for Gil damn, I could have split that into 2 posts and catch Stephens
OK, I forgot I even had these photo's until I came across them last night. A whole bunch of coincidences in them. In 1993 Maranello Imports put on a ride day for their customers. The idea was for the customer to be taken for laps in either a 348 or a 512TR (then current models) by Alesi & or Berger. On the day an F40 turned up and I found out much later that it was owned by Nick Pongrass. One of the customers I flew up with was the SECOND owner of Gil's car (Barry Fitzgerald). We all had rides in 348's etc; but the F40 was used for laps by both BERGER and ALESI for the owner and his friends.
The guy leaning through the window is the FIRST owner of Gil's car. You all SHOULD know who he is talking to. Image Unavailable, Please Login
One of those guys looks like my Dad about 10-15yrs ago.....maybe there is something he hasn't told me.
Jean may have had a much more successful career had he chosen to ignore my driving tips! Alesi was a seriously top guy, and I can't imagine Schuey and Rueben's doing a day like this in 2005. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I recall an article from a newspaper that did a story on this day; had a picture of Jean Alesi with the 348. I cut the article out... I'll check to see if I still have it. I cannot recall if Berger was also in the picture. Also, I remember reading Barry Lake's column (in Car or Motor, can't remember) on this day; he spent time with Berger, and even went to KFC with him (either on his way to, or from, EC)!
Yes Barry Lake was there. I saw him in the rest of the photo's I have. I would be interested to see the article if you find it.
Here's Berger just a short while before the picture was taken... That guy is SO lucky to be alive...... Image Unavailable, Please Login
well.. i guess there's a clue in the "Eastern Creek Ride day" sub title of the photo... Maybe it's Wakefield...
no no , it could be Wakefield, I've only driven there about 20 times and I'm sure there are HUGE wire fences like that there spot on again Phil
