Yep, its all thin sheet metal at the back of a 355.
When the wing is fitted on the rear lid, there are some spacers mounted on rear engine compartment transverse panel that are fitted in such a fashion so that the downforce of the wing is transferred to the chassis of the car when the lid is closed, not to the decklid.
JM is going to have some wing mounts made that attach directly to the ear engine compartment transverse panel through the rear grill so that the downforce is still transferred to the chassis of the car ( aka 458 Challenge / GT3 )
Saves cutting holes in to the decklid, or trying to find the OEM 355C wing mounting hardware

The photo doesn't show the spacers, but it does show the rear transverse panel.

So let me get this straight.

You had a wing attached to a car. You sold it.

But you happen to have another lid which you might sell to morreti immediately after he's agreed to give me $50k for mine.
I think you two are in cahoots.

    $35k. That's it. Ok?
    I'm dying here...

Hate to say it; but yes.

Point 1- the wing is so pathetic that it doesn't generate enough downforce for it to cause any problems mounting it to the rear deck. The wing on my N-GT is about 4 times as big and it is STILL mounted on the rear deck.

Point 2- Why destroy a bloody expensive and hard to get rear challenge grill ?

Point 3- the arse end of a 458 GT3 and a 355 Challenge are totally different. The 355 has tail lights, an exhaust muffler and airboxes in the way of any wing supports getting anywhere near the chassis.

Point 4- It will look ridiculous IMHO.

Point 5- Why do it when you can buy a spare rear deck to mount the wing to and just interchange them when required. That's obviously what I did.

Because he's Moretti and, I also hate to say it, he's on a roll of stupidity lately.

(not just because he bought that car :) )

I wonder how he would feel if he bought your other car for sale at the time.

He'd be driving a far inferior car, which is now worth far more money.

    Weird.

Edit: He wouldn't be driving it, as such...

Funny you should say that...I was having the very same discussion with him just a few days ago.

He thinks the 308 is inferior too. When I asked him in what way, he could only come up with performance oriented things.

The 308 is a much happier ownership experience for me....performance has nothing to do with it. Much to many people's dismay, I haven't regretted the decision even once!

I'm not surprised you're happy with his decision.
Especially now you're selling the 308 for much more. Lol!

Truthfully though, they are both stunning cars, and I can't understand why the 355CH is not valued higher here.
It can only be a matter of time before they become very collectable the world over.

I think it's very wise of moretti to not drive his for six months.

Anyway, the question you still haven't answered is:

When you sell your car, what would you buy in today's market to replace it?

Having seen several in the flesh now they really are nice looking cars.

    Genuine game changer, for mine.

If they put that drivetrain in a car I'd use as a daily I'd be all over it.

Too big for me to want to drive to work.

Put it in a 3 series sized body and I'll buy one.

Well watch this space. The game plan is to release the SUV 4WD this year, then they move on to a 3 series BMW competitor which will be a mini version of the current "S". After that they are doing a small "peoples car" that will be cheap enough to be within most peoples budgets.

I am looking forward to my P85D coming in June. Who knows, might even replace the Range Rover with the Tesla SUV when the time comes.

That's good. If it's priced similarly or slightly less than an equivalent 3 series I'll definitely buy it.
Well, provided it looks good as well.
