Giovanni's this weekend?

I had it marked on my calendar also. (But I'll be doing BMW AutoX). New ride? What did "we" get.............or is it a suprise?

 

Yup, it's on for Saturday from 4 PM to dusk. Fiat and Lancia are the featured marques. I'll put up a flyer tonight.

Nice Gt!! I will not be able to make it this month... I am taking my motorcycle riders course on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Yeah that's right the Alfa kid on a cycle. Maybe it will show up next month...

No sir. The bike is not Italian. It is a Honda. I wouldn't mind an Italian bike, but that takes time. It is loud if that counts...

Just emailed the S.E. Fiat Lancia club so maybe we'll see a lot of em around on Saturday.

Brian, can you see if Vinny can get more spaces coned off opposite Caribou Coffee? We ran out of spaces yesterday, and I saw at least one car (a Pantera) drive off after driving through and not seeing any spaces. (Truthfully, there was one space still available along the curb in front of Caribou, but he evidently didn't see it.)

 

I had told some people yesterday that this would probably be the last Giovanni's event at which I'd be shooting pics with my venerable Canon FTb SLR (a design as old as the Berlinetta Boxer, and just as classic!).

In fact that will not quite happen. I realized later that the camera I was planning to buy, the Canon S3 IS, did not have a "hot shoe" for flash, and as the built-in flashes on camera of this type just aren't strong enough for some of my shooting, I'd have to look elsewhere.

Fortunately, the solution is close at-hand. My first choice some months back had been the Panasonic Lumix FZ30, but the Panasonics have always had an issue with digital noise, which makes them almost useless above ISO 200. (And I typically shoot racing at ISO 400). Now, though, Panasonic is introducing the FZ50, which supposedly fixes the noise problem. Admittedly, it is $150 more than the Canon, but no more than the FZ30, and still a lot less than even a Digital Rebel with suitable telephoto zoom.

So I will wait for test reports and improved availability, and I anticipate making this camera a Chanukah present to myself. Yes, I'm still going digital, but I want to do it on my terms, so that will take a bit longer......

So, as a result, my photos from yesterday will be up late in the week, as has been the custom!

we had a great collection of cars yesterday. very nice. and some new talent too. great turn out. this is one fantastic group of car guys.

HI THERE! Oh heck yes I had a blast in that Gallardo. Damnit I really want one now. They are uber cool. Huh huh. I said UBER, cause the Gallardo is mostly German.

Julie was there right at 4:00 and had to leave soon thereafter. I took her for a few spirited rides in the car, she loved it. I had a blast as usual.

I just got too much sun that day and had to haul butt as I was really tired. I will be renting it again, and will also rent his 360 Spider when he gets it! Why the hell not, it was sooo fun.
