Federal Tax Rap for "Girls Gone Wild" Boss
IRS: Joe Francis caught in $20 million corporate evasion scheme

APRIL 11-- Joe Francis, the "Girls Gone Wild" founder, was indicted today on federal tax evasion charges for illegally deducting more than $20 million in phony business expenses from his 2002 and 2003 corporate tax returns. According to a two count indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Reno, Nevada, Francis, 34, sought to conceal income through the use of offshore companies and nominees. At one point, he transferred $15 million from one offshore bank account to a California brokerage account in the name of a Cayman Islands corporation he controlled. Below you'll find a copy of the indictment filed against Francis, who is pictured in the mug shot at right. If convicted of the federal charges, he faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and fines of up to $500,000. Francis was arrested yesterday on an unrelated federal warrant stemming from a civil lawsuit brought against him by seven underage women who were filmed by "Girls Gone Wild" cameramen in Florida in 2003. The contempt citation was issued after Francis rebuffed a judge's order to settle the case with the aid of a mediator.

What ^^ he said. You were way too quick there to attribute it to greed. Think of it more as civil disobedience. :)

Wow, it's hard to believe that those vids cranked in that kind of dough. The thing got too high profile with the lawsuits etc. and this guy was dumb not anticipating that the Fed's would go over things with a fine tooth comb.

it is his money. it certainly isn't mine. you make think it's yours.

i earn my own, of which, the government confiscates (with the threat of force) a good chunk of every year. they take well beyond a fair share.

I thought he built a huge place in Puerto Vallarta or Cabo so he would'nt have to worry about lawsuits or taxes? I wonder what his net worth is? He has had more legal issues by 34 that I would want in a lifetime:(

I don't agree with the way he makes his money but I guess you have to do whatever works for you.

I sat next to him at a Mayweather fight here in Vegas, he is a nice enough guy. He has always been in a mess of legal battles... but still I think the pissed off father of some 17 year old out there will get to him before any income tax people do. Already someone broke into his house and filmed having to take a dildo up the a$$ while he had a gun to his head or something... the story was on Dateline.

Realist. I'm sure he knows about taxes. If he wanted into that business he knew taxes would have to be paid. If he didn't want to pay the taxes, he shouldn't have gone into that business in this country.

It's like getting an allowance when you're a kid, you want the cash but you have to take out the trash in order to get it.

If no one paid taxes, what would happen? Most would suffer.

His company equals his money? Yes/ no?

The government allows him to conduct business and up front tells him how much of a percentage he is going to pay them. He knows this and even if he doesn't agree, the laws are already in place.

What if I had a problem with my neighbor? Can I slap him around? No. Why because the laws are already in place to punish that action just like evading taxes.

I think it's somewhat odd that "I" even posted in this topic since I've been in "that" boat before... and in some definitions I'm till in that boat. *fingers crossed*

Oh and P.S. if he wanted to keep his money badly enough he would have found a way.

    I know I did.

most would not suffer. besides, no one said pay no taxes. it is the level of taxation that is the problem.

i don't know about up "north", but it is intended that our government works for us and not the other way around. the government does not allow him to do anything, it is our right.

americans spend more time working to pay taxes than the do for food, clothing and shelter.

He knew the level of taxation and was able to pay it. - What's the problem? If he no longer wanted to pay the higher taxes, he could have left the business. Or if the cost of making millions was too much for him he could have sold the business. Again, he knew that taxes would need to be paid.

I don't know where you went to school but where in the hell did you learn that governments were created to help anyone but the people inside the government? <<< Please answer this question.

Any yes most would suffer because they wouldn't be able to pay for health care, compete for cheap, safe food, protect their family etc. If the US government were to vanish overnight the US of A would parish under it's own slimy, gross weight.

Really read what your last post has in it.

Your right? Yours because your government says it's yours and when enough time passes, you'll be able to count "your rights" on one of your hands and you won't have to use your thumb or pinky to do it.

Having rights is like having control over your life,

    1. When they're gone, there's nothing you can do to get them back.

    2. They're both illusions.

Work around the laws you don't like and support the laws you do like. That's what smart people do.

What's the average percent that a regular US Joe Blow pays? What's the most common bracket?

    Say it ain't so, Joe!!!
One would think that with millions at stake, you wouldn't want to mess with the IRS. Al Capone was a murdering gangster, but the feds took him down with an income tax rap. Joe could be facing a long term in the graybar motel when all is said and done.

And what is the allure for all those bimbos to appear in his videos? Does anybody know how much he pays a typical bimbo for her 15 minute performance in a motel room in front of the video camera? It can't be THAT much money. Why would some hot babe risk her future reputation by appearing in a video that will eventually come back to haunt her? Most of those babes are not actresses and have no serious aspirations to be. They're just spring break crazies who take it off for a few bucks, and that only helps to make them look trashy and help Joe get richer. Why do they do it???????? They're not all drunk. What's in it for them that makes them appear in the GGW videos?

we've got him in the graybar hotel downtown. $40 a nite. some rooms have a bay view. his silver 360 is still at the sheriff's garage. if he'd only listened when our cowboy mayor told not to come back a couple of years ago, but noooo.... what a jerk. all he had to do was be civil in court the other day but he showed up in a tshirt and shorts without shoes. then he starts cussin' and fussin', wrong, now look at him. i hope he pays his fines. the town needs some stormwater project funds that i'll have to cover with my taxes.

Why? Because women are just as big - if not BIGGER - pigs than men. Most are so desperate for attention that this is the only way they know how to get it. Instead if aspiring to actually be something, it's just easier to get attention by taking off your clothes or acting like a lesbo. It works for a while...this Joe guy just found the right buttons to push. He's actually showing this generation's women and how shallow and vain they really are.

Pretty sad if you ask me.
