I was at Home Depot and loading some short sections of rebar and a large roll of concrete expansion foam into the front seat of my car. A friend rolled up and started talking to me about my car (1999 360 Modena) and when he looked in the car and saw what was in the passenger seat, he asked me if I was trying to be like John Corbani :) I took that as a compliment :)

For the new people, Corbani drove his 246GT daily, had near 200,000 miles on it when he passed away and I used to see him around town with 8foot 2x4's sticking out the passenger window and one time saw him loading concrete cinder blocks in the passenger seat, he used his Dino daily. I would see his 246GT around town all the time and we went on drives with our 2 Dino's, it was interesting how much he could carry in his GT.

John and Candi were/are great people and we met several times when I was in Santa Barbara for SCUBA diving trips. Jon was a self made entrepreneur in cutting edge thin file deposition techniques that had applications from the Silicon industry to sensor devices. He devised the process himself and ran the company.

He always had a story tell about his Dino; how he fixed then improved something like the flyback diode on the ignition. His active mind was always two steps ahead and I enjoyed chuckles and his weird patterns. For example, once we went to a great Santa Barbara seafood restaurant and I saw him order a Reuben sandwich and fries. When it arrived he claimed it was the best he had ever had in his life. Always a positive outlook.

    Forza Corbani!

I've told this story before but in the late 80's, I used my Dino as a DD. It was the only car I had for about 2 years. It never broke down on me but I did do some repair on it.

One time I was doing a freelance job and I had to get some special colored cardboard to mount some drawings to it for a presentation. I drove to an art supply store in Westwood in LA. I lived in the South bay, a good 20 miles away.

So I drove to Westwood, bought a 4 x 8 sheet of the board I needed, had them cut it into four pieces and then placed them over my head in the cockpit. I drove all the way home like that. My head held the boards from falling down as it just fit under the headliner.

At the time it seemed like more a real annoyance but today, it's rather funny.

Yeah, but think how it probably improved your posture!
