The only constant about Glickenhaus seems to be to over promise and under deliver. Examples: 004 delivery date, 2 dr Boot sales, 4 door Boot delivery date/sales, 003 sales, the first delivery of 004s to Cici that was retroactively referred to as "pre-production" after being touted as the first delivered production car.

If I was an investor I would be terrified about the continual smoke and mirrors with zero substance.

I don't know how old you are, but do you remember the 'Vector'?

Same kind of deal in the late-70's to the mid-80's, lots of pictures, hype, even a project car or two,
but nothing ever came of it until the late 80's, when they made a couple dozen cars, and that was it...

Absolutely. I just saw per HK Motors (their dealer) that they are outsourcing production to Roush, which is an interesting development...and that three of the first 30 cars are still available, which I believe means people have either backed out, or the claimed orders were false.

The whole operation seems to be a joke, why dick with these 'cars' when there are
soooo many other much more viable ones out there? Pagani, Noble, even a Gordom Murray, et al

    Who can fix an SCG?
Where can you find parts, today, and in 10-20-30 years?
I wouldn't even blink at them, but I guess there are some that want a garage queen,
or a killer museum piece... but I'm not a billionaire.

It's a GM crate engine, the car is not a hybrid, it uses off the shelf components for most of if not all the mechanical bits..... shouldn't be too hard for a good mechanic to fix.

I get the skepticism, but I also think the level of vitriol towards the project is extra strong because Glickenhaus is a controversial character here....

Roush is a serious business, the fact they are building the first cars is significant.

A lot of people are quick to crap on this venture, but how is this different to the tens of cowboy restomod builders out there who are taking money off of people promising them an updated Diablo/355/Mercedes 190E/Lancia Delta/Lancia "037" etc etc?? (all real examples, not to mention the gazillion Porsche based ones)

Why are they held to higher scrutiny? Who says a car has to take 1 year from pre-production prototype to actual production vehicle?

Wait and see. It could be the next Vector, sure, but it could also not be...

Very well said. I also think there is absolutely a place for a simpler supercar. I imagine maintaining a LaFerrari in 30 years, or really any of the latest exotic cars, will not be easy when (for example) the left blinker ECU :) goes out.

Producing a new supercar is extremely difficult. That has always been the case, but now is far more so given the extreme and increasing complexity in every iteration of supercar.

The complexity of the newest supercars is way over the top for me, and I don't care about 2-second 0-60. The Lotus Emira has it about right in my opinion.

Time will tell if Jim is successful. What he is trying to do is extremely difficult, and just trying to compete against the orders-of-magnitude better funded competition is an accomplishment in itself.

I understand the other issues, but not sure what that has to do with what SCG is trying to do. The car world needs more people like Jim trying to add something new. Will he pull it off? Who knows, it's a near impossible mission. I don't see any reason to attack that mission though -- quite the opposite, in fact.

In simple terms, because we have gone down this road before, that's all.

How is this different from a Restomod? Because it's not a Restomod, that's how,
this is a ground-up venture, not a 'take something and soup it up' venture.

And I'm not 'crapping on' it, like I said, we've seen this kind of venture before, and
this project has been going on for years, that's why we are skeptical.

If it comes to fruition - great, and if not: I PROMISE I won't say 'I told you so',
because I won't need to, it'll just be another venture that never quite happened...
the auto world is FULL of them... 'keep walking - nothing to see here...'

At least that car seems slightly less ugly than its brethren.
I suspect we won’t be seeing many more of them anyway…..
