Art, I know you think these are fake posters, and maybe they are, but I've seen real ones just like them, and I've heard people say this stuff too. Yes, these people are sort of out there, but their views are very influential, especially on (elite) college campuses. They get news coverage.

And even though what they say is out there, it reflects what world leaders are really saying, and the people they are appealing too. Kerry's statements have been all over the place because the man ONLY SAYS what he thinks people want to here. It's unbelievable. At least Bush is consistent. I'm so damn sick of politicians like Kerry. I'm pretty sick of all politicians, actually. These people with banners and head bands have a strong political voice and reflect a growing political force.

Frankly, it makes me sick that Kerry sent our troops to war and then refused to give them the armor that they needed. Period. I hate him.

His statements are all over because he has taken a page or two from the Bill Clinton School of Government textbook: govern by the polls, today I'm a fat middle-aged white man, tomorrow I am the first black president. Hey, whatever works right?

Exactly, which is why college campi are seething cesspools for liberals who go into academia because they can't actually compete in the real world marketplace and make a living. They have NOTHING to offer of value in any way to any employer in any field so they are content to stay in an arrested state of development and be a professor and hope and pray... one day I might hit the big time and get... dare I dream..TENURE! They instead fill mush-mellon teens (no offense intended to any on the board) with feel-good PC so-called "values" which accomplish nothing but the continual decay of society and prevent any problem from being solved. Example: remember the days when a parent could .. brace yourselves, some of you might need to get a dictionary and look up this word... DISCIPLINE their kids? Not a thing wrong with an occasional slap when a kid is being unruly. And I hazzard to guess everyone on this board over the age of probably 25 got their fare share of whoopins' (as they say down here in the south) from time to time. But nowadays parents can be arrested for such "behavior" The schools allow your daughters to get abortions WITHOUT your parental consent, they hand out rubbers for FREE, they openly mock whatever your religious values are through their carefully selected secular curriculum, and yet they care very little about whether any learning is going on and they hold teachers accountable to NO STANDARDS whatsoever. This is the great legacy of liberalism and political correctness. Do I support free speech - yes, if it's productive.

My complaint is that conservatives make stuff up, like these pictures, which by the way, no one, including the reporter from the Chronicle, who was there saw that sign. Make up stuff, claim it means something, then get huffy when you get busted. Give me a break. Are you saying that its ok to lie? I think not. As to those who don't get it, their words speak for them, loud and clear, you are guaged by those who you hang out with. Hang with liars, be perceived as a liar.

Conservatism is an old, non workable story, and it takes each new generation a little experience to figure it out. My general had and Ann Rand books. Great reading, but unworkable. Same deal now.

oh god....the great conservative conspiracy again.....is your maiden name Rodham?

Ok, you must take political issues on a case-by-case basis, never in black/white. There's a time for conservative policy and a time for liberal policy. I can't understand what's going through the mind of someone with a blind faith in one end of the partisan spectrum.

Are you serious? I think it's communism and socialism that have been proven to be "non workable" Ronalld Reagan PROVED conservatism works and it worked great for 8 years, THAT was the REAL greatest economy this country has ever seen because it was sustainable and built upon businesses that actually MADE things, not held together with internet-chewing gum and cardboard.

As a high school senior, I assure you, conservatism is hardly "en vogue" with youth, even in my traditionally strongly Republican community. Its really a shame that so many people are growing up with delusions about the world around them.

By the way...Art, are you also on the skyscraperpage.com forums?

You've said this so many times and I've let it slide. One of these days you are going to have to make your case that the great economy we had in the 90s was simply because of the dot com bubble. It's quite obvious to anyone involved that it was not just a bubble and that the declines since have little to do with the disappearance of the silly dot com companies. The real issuses are manufacturing, trade inbalance, government over-spending, energy policy rip-offs (e.g. what bush's pals did to california), etc. So please put it all together and prove to us that the Clinton-era economy was smoke and mirrors while the Reagan era wasn't (sad you have to go back 20 years to find a decent republican economy though, huh?).

Same here in Canada. I go to the most politisized U in Canada (Concordia) which is nick-named the Berkley of the North and West-Bank U(Lots of Arabs). This stuff happens here pretty often. I do subscribe to the theory that it is the "failed people" (just like there are failed states) who embrace these theories. They cannot play by the rules of the world so they dream up their own (kind of a "ostrich syndrome") it is my personal opinion that all pacifists are cowards and thus try to cover up this defect.
In the absence of religion, people need some meaning in their life, but they are too lazy or cowards to tackle REAL issues. Like helping poor in Africa (OOH it smells bad) or building houses for the poor in Asia (where's my Latte)
"K*ll the coffe-shop intellectuals!" is a slogan I saw on a t-shirt and while it is kinda harsh it does ring true. I propose instead we send them all to the 4rth world they love so much (Like North Korea).

N.B. It is my personal opinion that most you Westerners are wimps, begging for the cold embrace of a Russian tank-thread. ;-)
