I am changing the switch for the glove box light, but now I forgot how I removed the lid. I unscrewed both cylindric pins screwed into the fixed hinges and managed to remove it (the catalogue uses the name Dash board box for the glove box lid).

Does anyone know the trick on how to get it back into position? I have left both fixed hinges in place on the dashboard sides.

I did nearly the same job about 3 month before. the lock was not working right anymore. but at that time the complete dashboard was outside and even then I had a problem to put it back together.

I wonder how you could loosen the nuts from the srews when the dashboard is still inside. I tried this also but the screws always turning. so I decided to remove the dashboard completly even all the insturments I had outside because of some modification.

but may be I´m wrong now and I confuse because I also had the radio lid outside and there I also had poblems to put it back together.

    mine is a 87.

I just fixed my glove box last month due to the same not opening issue. My issues turned out to just be an adjustment as it was catching on the side. First I removed the light cover on the left side of glove box door (us version) 88TR and then I was able to reach up my small hand under the dash and remove the 3 screws holding everything together (can't see and need to be patient). I was then able to tilt it to get it out without any trouble. I did not need to do anything with the radio side attachment (I think). There was no way to get the radio side unscrewed. There was no way to unplug the wires going to the lights so I cut them in a place that would be easy to solder and put shrink wrap insulation on them later. Hope this helps. I have attached a picture so you can see the order the parts go back together on left side. Note the orientation of the washer.., hard to see but look close so you put silver washer back correctly. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Mel,

It is a picture of the left side of the hardware that holds the golve compartment door in place and allows it to rotate open and shut. Missing in the picture are the springs, but they can be taken off and put on when everthing is assembeled. The triangle piece with three holes is the light switch. I took a close up so I would remember the order it all goes back together. There is the same hardware on the right side but no light switch. you can see part of the electric door opener in the background.

    Hi Turbo-Joe,
You remove the two large pins (Item No. 18 on tav 116 in the spare part catalogue) and the wires then I managed to take the lid out.
