I'm going to put in my new Hill Engineering dead pedal and have some questions.

Do you screw it over the exisiting rubber or remove it?

And do you simply drill holes for the sheet metal screws? Whats there where the screws go in?

What are the machine screws for?

I want to glue the carpeting just off to the right of that space. Suggestions as to the sort of adhesive?

The dead pedal arrived without directions.

    Thanks for your help, Friends

I'd glue the sucker on and never look back.

I removed the rubber pad and attached the dead pedal with the sheet metal screws by drilling into the plate under the pad. This works well and it is easy to glue the rubber pad back if you want to put it back to original. I found that my shoe sometimes got caught on the edge of the pedal facing the foot well, so I "triangulated" that edge with a dremel to make this less of an issue.

As I recall my dead pedal rubber pad was sewn into the carpet backing so I just put the metal pedal over it and screwed it in. If I ever want to remove the metal pedal the holes in the rubber will be very small and not noticable.
