I just purchased the Monza version of this beautiful model. Under certain lighting angles I noticed some strange marks on the paint. At first I thought they were prints left by the thin clear plastic sheets that the main parts are wrapped in inside the box. So I thought they would disappear once the sheets were removed.
They are still there though. I tried to gently wipe them away with a little amount of benzene (don't know if this is the correct word, it comes up from Google translator when the Dutch word 'wasbenzine' is inserted). The light marks in the paint are still there.
Any advise on what to use to get these marks disappear? Maybe car wax? Mind you, under normal lighting circumstances they are not visible.

3M Finesse It Microfine final finish Polish......I use it on ANYTHING painted, after having a bottle handed to me for my (real world) water based white/clear coat TransAm.

Or at that price point send it back, for another example!!!!!

Can you reproduce the effect in a photo? That way others can check their models to see if this is more than a one-shot thing. It will also help generate a solution less likely to damage your model, as trial and error might not be pretty...

This is a problem with a lot of GMP product. It is most common on their 32 Fords. When I bought my Deuce I called them and asked for an exchange, but the answer was that the model is sold out and I should deal with the place where I bought it.

As a retailer of scale models and GMP, that is a cop out and a load of BS. I can't believe they now shove it on to the retailer to deal with their screwups.

So this seems not to be an isolated case. Also confirmed by the retailer I bought the model from. He recommends a liquid car wax. Lucky, what did you do to remove the stains?

They aren't very visible in normal day light so if I don't manage to get them off I'll probably live with them. If it was an isolated case I would have returned the model.

So I've tried to take some pictures of what I'm talking about. This turns out to be impossible to do (for me at least :) ).
The stains have the same apearance as greasy finger prints. Only under certain lighting conditions they're visible. They're all over the body, including the smaller parts. I've tried liquid car wax to remove them but no effect whatsoever. It seems it's deep inside the paint itself.

But because under normal lighting conditions they aren't very noticable I decided to live with them. The model itself is very nice and I'm a big fan of the 312.

I have a GMP 330 P4. While overall I like the model alot, it does have it's issues. The first one I got had some missing parts on the engine and the front left wheel would not stay straight. The next one they sent was better, but IMO for $300 just is not as nice as it should be. I really want to get a 512 S, but I am not sure I wanna drop $300 on a model that might have these issues too. Sorry, but a model in this price point needs to be well inspected before it is shipped. GMP doesn't seem to do that. I have a few 1:43 models from Make Up, that cost about $100 less, and are almost always near perfect.

Their QC is not what it should be at the price of the models.

This may be old news but my Exoto 1:18 scale models all have paint issues . I have one example of all the models they produced the first 2 years in production.Seems over time the paint seems to bubble (tiny) in some spots and some staining.

You need to get the 3M polish, although if the flaw is IN the paint rather than a surface scuff it won't remove it....

    It's not a wax, it's a polish.
