just got mine (#009). Am curious who else from F-chat has already got one and your opinion about it. I was a little disappointed , because it does not have hinges for the rear body (hood) and the small screws fixing the headlamp covers are omitted. Strange, because the 1:18 model does have them. I expected the same amount of details as with their Porsche 550 spyder.

I have these in stock and have delivered many and all of my clients have been happy with their models. I think RAE did a very good job, the P4 is way better than their previous releases, especially the 550 Spyder.

I have models in my shop for 10x this amount. At a certain point, these miniatures transcend from models to artwork, so the price needs to be legitimized differently.

    Yup, completely agree.

Just see them as collectible art, not as "just" a miniature.

Not arguing with the price at all Morrie. I guess the same thinking behind folks who wonder why we would "waste" $100K or more on a Ferrari would apply to this too.

I'm more of a Hot Wheels kind of guy. Some are more of GMP kind of guy. "Different strokes for different folks" to quote Sly and the Family Stone.

It all depends how you define 'art'...is it something hand made? In which case it will most probably not be completely accurate. Or can it be something produced in limited numbers (ie. a print vs. an original painting). I think this particular model is quite well done. I can tell you that models I sell that are 10x this price can still be 'picked apart' in the very same way one could critique the very best car, watch or painting for its faults.

At the end of the day some people are happy with the performance of their Corvettes and Seikos and see no reason for themselves or others to pay more and buy Ferraris and Pateks....

Well said...PLUS.........a 4K work of art is not expected to be as a 40K work of art.
