What Speed Racer had is what 97% of all movie makers for the last decade have lost.....

I think the entire movie was green-screened.

I know. Speed Racer was great. This, however, looks like a director caught the series on TV one day, decided to make a movie about the show, and thought it needed some kung fu & crap the show didn't have.

Regardless of the less than favorable reviews, I'm still planning to see it on the big screen.

    Just heard Mr. Moviephone's review.

"It's like being hooked up to a sugar IV and shot through a pinball machine."

"The only people I can see being interested in this movie are 7 year-old boys."

"The main problem with this movie is, it's crap."

I have a feeling that it will be crap and I have no intention at all of seeing it.

    Saw it.. took my boy.

Fun film very family oriented reminded me of the old Willy Wonka movie.

If you have kids... take em they will enjoy it.. if you want a good Visual "Popcorn Flick" Go See It. If you always wanted a pet monkey.. go see it... If you are color blind, vomit on carnival rides or don't enjoy old campy ninja movies... stay home!

Saw bits of it tonight, looks very visually interesting. Can't speak for the plot or acting though.

Our theater has it on the digital projector, and MAN does it ever look sharp.

Saw it tonight. Movie was okay, but the visual effects and art direction was great. It really felt like watching a cartoon, which is good thing I guess. I say go see it and enjoy the acid trip.

Just got back from it. Not -nearly- as bad as the reviews stated. Kinda long and too much talk in some sections, but it really did feel like a live-action cartoon. Visually stunning, will be the gold standard for that home big-screen-and-high-def showoff mode for a while.

I just got back from & I can completely agree with Tillman, it really was a fun movie but a bit longer than expected. The visuals are amazing, in digital it really enhances the whole movie going presentation.
