Much credit to JohnnyGQ for coming up with the idea and much criticism to him for not following up with the idea, I've decided to put together a "track" day at the Oakland Valley Race Park.

(PLEASE NO "MAYBE" or "I SHOULD BE IN" POSTS. It's a waste of post count and a waste of every's time to read and scroll through. If you are not sure or cannot make it, then don't post anything until you CAN make it.)

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO EVERYONE!

The following are the days in June that will work:
6/3, 6/10, 6/17 (all friday) - please tell me the days you cannot make it.

The class costs $325 per person, including instruction, kart and gear.
    Class consists the following:

    A.M.
    - Walk around the track and familiarize with the Kart
    - Concept of Racing (i.e. Apex, Contact Patch, Over/Understeer etc)
    - Practice Lapping and Cornering

    P.M.
    - RACE!!!

The karts goes approximately 55-60 MPH and if you wreck it, you're liability is limited to $500.

If it's a downpour on the day of the event, we will reschedule, otherwise we will drive in wet condition (which is a lot of fun).

If you are in, please PM me NO LATER than May 6th; I will also need a $100 non-refundable deposit. If we get 8 people, we can have the track all to ourselves. Regardless how many people signup, this event is on. I'm going for sure...just need to finalize on a date.

    The track's website is: www.ovrp.com
and the track is approximately 1.25 hours from NYC

If you need to contact the track you can reach Mike Dotty (instructor) at:
    [email protected], or
    845-386-8533
305 Oakland Valley Road . Cuddebackville, NY 12729

    Directions from: NYC
    1. George Washington Bridge
    2. Palisades Parkway North (approximate 20 miles)
    3. West Interstate 87 (I 287) (approximate 24 miles)
    4. North West SR 17 (US 6) (approximate 38 miles)
    5. Exit 113 - US 209/Wurtsboro- South Rt 209 (8.6 miles)
(Look for green sign to CUDDEBACKVILLE and or Oakland Valley Campgrounds) you will turn right immediately after the signs -Gordon Road. This access road will dead-end on Oakland Valley Road.
    6. Right on to Oakland Valley Road
Oakland Valley Race Park is approximately 1 mile on left.

    Damn right, WC snob:

CUDDEBACKVILLE stimulates the senses, demanding to be seen, heard, touched, tasted and smelt. From romance along the Hudson to landscapes on bus-sized canvases, CUDDEBACKVILLE is the essence of all things New York.
Gaze rapturously at its breezy boulevards, impressive monuments, great works of art and magic lights. Savour its gourmet selection of cheese, chocolate, wine and seafood. Feel the wind in your face as you rollerblade through main street, or a frisson of fear and pleasure Go-Karting with P-chop.

CUDDEBACKVILLE is a city to discover. So see the sights, visit the museums - they're part of the experience. But then jump on the metro or a bus and get off at a place you've never heard of, wander through a quartier where Spanish mixes with Arabic or Vietnamese, poke your head into mysterious shops, have lunch in a local restaurant, or just perch on a cafe terrace with a vin blanc and let yourself fall in love with your very own CUDDEBACKVILLE.

next year...Run Out to Cuddebackville! ROC!

Oh wait, I checked another guide:

    Warning
It won't come as a surprise to too many people that CUDDEBACKVILLE isn't the best place for a holiday at the moment. The turbulent and extreme domestic situation makes CUDDEBACKVILLE one of the least desirable places in the world to be. Even if you wanted to go, chances are you'd have trouble getting there; there are only a few infrequent buses running there and only the military, aid workers and p-chop are allowed in.

(I hear Pchop opening the can of whoop-azz right now...)

Approximately 3 hours of pure racing plus 1.5-2 hours of learning the apex, braking, over/understeer, etc.

FYI, if you can last more than 45 minutes straight in a Go-Kart, you will win the official "Buns of Steel" title. Two words for the participants: Padded Pants.
