Okay, I've calmed down from my earlier frustrating post (but stay tuned ) However, new problem: I notice that, upon pulling a plug from my front bank (only one of them thus far), there is a substantial amount of fresh oil around the threads. I assume that means a gasket leak, am I correct? If so, shouldn't I just wait on that until the next belt change and do it all at the same time? Second, looking at the plug itself, the two electrodes appear pretty decent. A light gray frosting on the negative-side and nice sharp edges all around. However, on the rim around the positive inner post, there is black baked-on carbon. What is that? Andrew
Andrew, Try this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121401&highlight=plug+reading+101 to learn to read your plugs and the OP for your oil question. I am a novice too and I learned a heap of good stuff here. I'll have some future questions for the OP as well. Hope this helps, Mark
Wow, oh so helpful! Thanks. BTW, I once posted about the need for a "how to" forum. The link you gave me should be in the "how to read a plug." Andrew
Andew, You are welcome. Yes I remember your posts on the suggested "How To" forum. I was (am) your main advocate. I think Rob Lay (High Priest of F-Chat; Hi Rob!!! ) is going to approve that idea and incorporate it soon (fingers crossed) or (thumbs in fists; if your German). Mark
