Teens are in that stage where they're practicing making decisions, but constantly having their decisions overruled. That gives them a feeling of not being in control. But in a guaranteed disarmed society, a gun is a talisman of power -- an untimate totem of control. Can you think of anything more attractive to a disempowered teen? There are those who dream of "un-inventing" the 1000 year old technology, to "make it all go away". Wishful thinking. But where a gun isn't alone, it's not quite the same symbol of power. It's just another tool that "everyone" has. The school may be onto something, here.
It maybe the best thing to happen to Texas schools, kids are different. i just the teachers can maintain this responsibility.
