Anyone able to identify the 250 GTE in the background of this Godfather II scene? Appears to have chrome fender vents. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Disclaimer: all of this comes from the top of my head: Party in the movie happens in year 1959, so all 60's cars were moved from the parking lot to the park behind that frosted glass. I think the serial number is listed in some old issue of GTE register or Newsletter, eventually edited out later as thought to be an error as no Ferrari seemed to appear in the movie.
I don't think it is a 250 GTE. Look at this blow up. The item which looks like the chrome fender vents may be the top of a waste bin or something. Other detils whch may be different are whitewall tyres, the front and back end profiles look completely different but I could be wrong. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Godfather Saga combined GI and GII in chronological order with some additional footage included. I recall that Fredo had a Gullwing at the First Communion Party. Any volunteers to watch it?
I have talked to the only GTE owner we know in the Tahoe area at the time and he does not recall one being there at that time. However 2345 GT advertised in the Ferrari Market Letter in the 70's as having been in the movie. It was originally Grigio Argento but I have no knowledge of it ever having chrome fender vents.
Based on that, and given FFC’s penchant for detail and authenticity, that’s probably not a 250GTE. . What do we know about the Alfa that was blown up during Michael’s exile in Sicily? It looked like it might have been a Touring body.
I see hint of chrome taillamp bezel which would indicate Series 1-2. Also no protruding headlamp rings.
For anyone interested: Godfather II (Der Pate 2) will be on screen tonight at 11:55 p.m. in German TV (Das Erste/ARD).
