Don't rip her too hard. I hear the gearbox needs an oil change after any track work, the oil is extremely expensive and it holds a lot of it.
They recommend you get a check before a track day and then you MUST get an inspection after. If the gearbox oil has been over a certain temp (i think it's 130c), then you have to change the oil.(around $100 a litre and there's about 10 litres I think). Same with the engine oil/temp. If you don't do this it voids your warranty. The display has gearbox/engine oil temps. So you can monitor it throughout your track day. Also, you have to sign an agreement about this before you take delivery.
Not in my opinion. In fact I can't think of a BMW or a Benz that would see which way it went on most roads or a track.
Hmmm horse? mate of mine use to work or know someone who had that plate on a fazza i wonder if you are one in the same.? his last name was barichello....no people not rubins and no relation... anyhow...
Oh ok tar horse...my mistake. could of been horsey. Just thought i remember him saying his boss in computer firm he owned had your car and plates, it was an older car like yours, Sorry i mean classic not older lol.... anyhow...great plate i might add...
correct. i have a client who tacks his very regularly...apart from crapping all over every ferrari or porsche he's come up against so far, he's never got to those critical 'inspection after' numbers. i think you'd have to be doing a lot of trashing for many laps to get there....if you actually can!
so how would they know you're doing a track day? do they GPS confirm it? what would happen if you put a Lead blanket over the GPS sensor so it didnt know where you were?
I would expect when plugging in the PC and downloading data would show history. Bit hard to drive as hard as you do on a track on the road. On temps as PP said you'd have to be pushing pretty hard to get to 130C.
Heck.. how can this policy get carried down to 2nd/3rd owner in 10 years past warranty? What corner cutting and cheaper stuff put in then.. and what happens then?
The dudes that pick them up in 10 yrs time wont be able to afford to maintain them properly and they will put in the cheap Woolworths brand oil in the gearbox.
They have full data logging including g force on cornering and acceleraton and braking also throttle and brake position and all temps. They realise a lot of owners will track their cars and have put in place an inspection service that allows the cars to be covered by the full warranty if you abide by their schedule.
Great car. I would love to have one of them. Out of interest, how do you rate it against Ferraris? Rate in whatever way you like. In short, what is your general impression of it?
Congrats Horse, nice car, they look better in real life than in photos. I saw one last year at Jamboree Haltech GTR it was stock apart from the ecu it was runing 11.5 1/4 mile but few months later the engine blew up, more details here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Haltech-Gt-Engine-Carnag-t245357.html Also these guys are making one, 1000 HP Engineering behind it is awsome! http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=302894
