We think so, this is the best grass strip we know about and it's right in our back yard! Local or not too far.... come on.

11th Annual Triple Tree Aerodrome Fly-In : Triple Tree Aerodrome

This week, make a trip, jump in, no make that fly in! This grass strip is so good we have seen L39s come in. Should be over 1,000 planes this week.

    Here's a few cool videos:

If the weather's good, I may drive there on Saturday. Should be about 3 hours from greater Atlanta. I presume that drive-ins are welcome?

Yes! Visit our friend and presenter Eric Barnhill. He has a golf cart as well, will be doing seminars on maintenance. We will be getting ready for the Auburn Clemson game, but may try to head over.

Stop in to see us either way if you are headed down 85.

NOTAM: All you folks make preparations to be safe. It appears that you may be visited by a mean lady, IRMA. Guesses are that she will make a run up the East Coast.

Has the impending hurricane affected aircraft participation? Is anyone already there planning to leave before tomorrow?

Well, I've decided not to come. Because of Irma, I suspect that a lot of the planes already on site will be leaving early, if they haven't already, and the ones who were planning to come for the weekend simply won't. I'd guess that by Saturday afternoon, the airfield will be a ghost town compared to what it might have been. Also, traffic on all northbound arteries thru Atlanta has been extremely heavy and probably will be like that tomorrow, and gas is expensive and getting hard to find. Maybe next year.....

Right on all Jim, had about 300 planes in yesterday I would guess, the storm has cut down on the attendance as FL is a huge draw. Funny comment from one of my friends who gives some seminars, "About a third of the folks normally here are leaving their planes in the hangers, and another third are flying down to FL that cannot sell their airplanes".

Still some really neat planes there today, I'll post a few phone pics.

I spent the entire day at TT on Friday. It was a great event-well organized, pleasant people and some beautiful airplanes. Saw a DC 3, and a beautiful Beech 18 make a low pass-and probably a once in a lifetime event, a Citation making a beautifully executed low pass down the runway.

How cool missed all that must have been earlier in the day. Sorry the turn out was so low but sorrier for those hurt by Irma.

The turnout for a Friday was great. Never having been before, I had nothing to judge by. There was enough there to keep me occupied all day, and it wasn't an oppressively large crowd. Every person I talked to was really nice and interesting. On a side note, the Spartin Executive in the hangar brought me back in time quite a few years. Having been a corporate pilot operating all through the South I remember seeing that airplane at a few airports from time to time, mostly the Greenville airport?? I was also quite pleased to see all the model airplanes. I will post up some pics tomorrow when I get to work. This was as great a day as a day at Oshkosh and a more relaxed atmosphere with better (Southern) food!
