Don't worry, you will see all of them if you are anywhere near the factory, and I'm not talking about the factory store, you can't miss them, and some have all the good stuff that you don't see in the US. have fun!!

Was there during Monza F1 week in sept last year, Scaledetails is 100% correct, there is lots of cool shop's,with lots of very very cool stuff, from rare models to Schumi's ex race suits. I bought a "GT jacket" that i have never seen for sale before or since anywhere, even online.
Marranello feels like a ferrari theme village, even many of the streets are named after famous people/drivers..
Between the front gate, where the official store is, round to the Galleria museum (about 400 meters, i guess) i can recall visting at least 5 shops.

Across from the Factory's main gate there is also the Cavallino restaurant, the food is wonderful (well, everywhere i ate in italy was wonderful) and its great to have lunch a few feet from an F1 engine block :)

If your lucky, when your there an F1 car might be getting tested on fiorano. You will know all about it if one is, you will hear it from where ever you are !!! You can't get into the track it's self, but there is view from a fence nect to a road bridge just along from the factory main gate..

Another cool place to hang out for a while is the side gate of the factory. We were there for abut 30 mins and saw dozens of current road cars coming and going, a few test mules too !!

If you have anymore questions give me a shout !

Just make sure you take a camera - I was there on my honeymoon, and we saw a prototipo 612 Scaglietti with a disguise on driving from Fiorano back to the factory - my wife hung out of our hire car and took photos of it as he was stopped at the traffic lights!

I have a gallery from my visit in Maranello (July 2006) on my website - text is in Czech only, but I hope the links to shops' websites, the pictures and the map can help you...

    1. Visit the Galleria Ferrari and it's official shop.

    2. Right next to the Galleria Ferrari, you'll find a store Named Warm-Up - maybe the best one in Maranello.

    3. Visit the Ferrari Store, which I think it's in the same street as the Galleria Ferrari.

    4. Visit the Ristorante Il Cavallino.

    5. Visit the Fiorano track. If you're lucky you'll see Badoer, Burti, Massa or Raikkonen testing :) I 1997 I saw Schumacher testing the F310B right before the Monaco GP! :)

    6. If you have some time left, try to visit Pagani & Maserati (near Modena) + Lamborghini & Ducati museums (@ Sant'Agata Bolognese & Borgo Panigale, both near Bologna). Especially the visit to Pagani is recommended. If you'll be lucky, you might meet mr Orazio Pagani himself. Even if I have never been to Pagani & Lamborghini, I've heard their museums are fantastic!!! ;) GO FOR IT!

You have got a lot of good advice here and here is the last bit: the weather.
The entire region (Pianura Padana) is enshrouded in fog for 90% of the winter time. There are days the fog is manageable, but there are days the fog is so thick you see only a few meters in front of your car.
The locals are used to it, but for a visitor, to arrive and spend a few days in thick fog is a definite bummer.
The best time to visit is late spring through early fall.

When are you headed there? I've been to Maranello many times. One of the best selections for books is Shopping Formula One - adjacent to Il Cavallino (if facing the restaurant, it's to the right - they also have a good selection of models). Warm-Up is another great place for models. It's adjacent to the parking lot for the Galleria. Try eating at Montana - dinner is delicious but as with restaurants in Italy. . dinner doesn't usually commence until 7:30 or so. We were treated to a restaurant by our friends from the factory which is out of town and is absolutely fantastic and highly recommended - dinner pp was 60 Euro - even got a private tour of their balsamic vinegar processing. Maranello Cafe is a terrific place to end a great evening with expresso. Also look at the statue across from the entrance to the Best Western Domus - same statue is located in Modena.

If you have time in Italy, definitely go to Maranello Rosso Museum in San Marino - a couple hours away. Museum in on the left when heading to the gates into San Marino. If you go to the top of the castle, you'll find some great model shops amongst the myriad of stores there.

Suggestion if you are staying in the Maranello/Modena area, fly into Bologna in lieu of Milan - save yourself a several hour drive. We're headed to Italy the middle of April for the Le Mans Series 1000km at Monza and may be headed the end of June for the 60th anniversary in Maranello. Guess you might figure out we like Italy!

    Enjoy your trip.

thanks for all the great tips. I'll be there march 25th-28th. I will have a car so i'll be driving. I am flying into milan. would have preferred bologna or parma but i'd have to make a stop and it's more expensive. decided to do the drive instead of the layover and save the money. i hope the weather is good. any suggestions for the lunch hour 2-4? i heard everthing closes. being an american i want to cram everything in and not miss 2 hours a day. thanks. ed

Gotta correct you. The exact name is espresso! ;)

    ------

Shops, stores & supermarkets in Italy are usually closed from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Restaurants and fast foods should be opened.
