A good friend and our spouses are heading to Monaco to see the race.

Does anyone have any suggestions on side events to see while at the Monaco F1 race? Any feedback would be appreciated

2 weeks before the GP is the historic GP.

Lots of parties etc happening in Monaco over the race weekend, just hang out there

For the spouses I highly recommend to check out the many art museums in and around Nice (Chagall, Matisse, Picasso, Cocteau etc).

In fact I recommend you stay in Nice and either take the train or helicopter to Monaco.

    Thank you for the feedback

I am staying in Nice. I just looked up the Heli ride. It is 130 Euro and no traffic

Yeah, highly recommend it for the fun and view factor. That said the train is a good option too. Particularly if your seats are around the Casino.

Do a search on here, we have discussed Monaco many times. You must visit the Stars bar at the harbor, full of F1 memorabilia.

In Nice you can take the hop-on/off bus. Good way to see it all.
    The pedestrian zone is lovely.

Time permitting I suggest a side trip to Vence and/or Menton.

And last but not least: Rent a F1 in Le Luc (see my profile). If you need more details, let me know

walk the track on friday, have dinner on the track friday.
fri and sat night around casino square is one big party.
take your passport and have a drink, gamble or dinner in the casino. reasonably priced.
its also the place where they filmed the bond movies. iconic and cool.
basically, just hang out around casino square. the ladies will enjoy the shopping there.
    enjoy

Historic GP was today. Couple of cars got binned...:(

Tell your friends to bring their wallet as drinks are not cheap. Especially during F1 when some bars jack their prices up....

Thank you that's very much appreciated. Gf has been asking to go to Paris is it too much to try and do both in one trip?

    Absolutely doable:
    Flight to Paris
Stay there for a few days, also gets the jet lag out of your body
TGV (high speed train) to Nice for the race weekend
    Train or heli to Monaco
Fly back on Monday from Nice to Paris or spend another few days in Paris

PS: many museums closed on Monday

And if you're early, parking is less of a hassle, BUT don't plan on being able to drive out after the race- traffic often backs up for hours, so plan on staying in Monaco for dinner and delay your departure.
