http://www.underdogresq.com/AdoptionCenter/SuccessStories.asp?SuccessStoryID=30 Will also be stopping by Ferrari of New England on the way! My Girlfriend and I are very excited to do both..
Yes his name is now Busa.. they are not out-lawed..just very strict rules about breeding them the right way. We are rescuing him from people that did not follow the breeding rules. So instead of him being destroyed we figured we can give him a good home.. I race bikes and since his foster name was "buddy" we figured Busa would be the best thing other than buddy.. The Suzuki Hiyabusa is a stocky powerful bike.. pits are stocky powerful dogs.. it fits..
Awesome! He looks great. Ever raised a pit bull before? One of the greatest dogs if brought up properly. Very versatile, loving, loyal, intelligent, athletic, and such handsome dogs. Not an expert, but we've had a few in the family--if you need a few tips PM me.
My GF has raised 3 and all 3 are great dogs. Very loyal, love to play and just all in all complete love bugs.. Its like rasing anything with emotions.. If you love it and take the time to do it right everything should turn out ok. Thanks for the compliments too.. He is 100% pure bred.. due to strict laws in Mass breeding pits with out a license is illegal. Thats what happened in this case.
It's a lot of (fun) work, however the dogs still have a bad name- for his own safety, don't put him in a situation that might be open to interpretation because he'll lose everytime. I put a stop to our daily trips to the dog park after some other dogs picked fights and he was blamed for it.. how he 'attacked' while rolled over on his back (submissively) I'll never know. C.
Crap like that really pi$$es me off. There are more bites from Labs in the US every year than there are Pits.. Bad owners = a bad dog or pet.. its not the dogs fault.
Exactly.. I just thought that the crowd here might understand what it's like. People will make sh*t up at the drop of a hat! C.
So why do people accept the fact that certain breeds of bulls have been bred to be "fighting" bulls, and certain breeds of horses are bred for racing, and other horses are bred for their strength and pulling power, yet those same people get all bent out of shape when you acknowledge the fact that pit bulls were bred for fighting purposes. They aren't poodles, and labs may "bite" people more often, chances are that pit bulls will do much more serious damage every time. (Where do you think those powerful jaws come from? Successive breeding for centuries maybe?)
Cute little guy. He looks like the "little rascals" one. Well sorta. Good luck with him. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah Petey is a close resemblance.. One of his siblings actually has the ring around the eye just like Petey..
They were bred for fighting, but it's really up to the owner to decide if the dog is going to be 'mean' or not. Some a-holes decide to beat them, starve them, etc in order to utilize those jaws for sport. Most, if not all, properly treated/loved pits are extremely docile animals that want a hug more than anything else. Small breeds give me the creeps. -Chris
Agreed that some owners MAKE their dogs meaner. But when I see a pit bull, even a docile one, I always wonder at what moment his deeply recessed instincts will kick in, and he will attack some little kid because his instincts "perceive" the kid as food, an enemy, etc. Chow dogs are also somewhat like pit bulls. They are very loyal to an owner, but they can be very mean to a stranger.
Pit bulls are one of the most loving animals, the dumb ass loser owners that beat them make them mean.
You can usually tell when a Pit is pissed off.. I steer clear of Akita's & Chow's because they are (IMO) harder to gauge. I do think that most 'bad' Pit owners do make more of a public showing of the dogs, which only reinforces the stereotype. Kids are another issue altogether.. I won't let my dog around them because I think he'd simply overpower them in a play situation (who am I kidding.. he overpowers ME) and he's also got a 'friendly bite' habit where he grabs your hand in an attempt to get you to play with him. He could crush the bones in my hand, but it's never more pressure than the firm grip of a handshake. If he did this to a 6 year-old the outcome might be less than ideal. -Chris
Na.. not so much Vmax.. if we were to get another I would go with Desmo (as in Desmodromic) or Mille' as in my bike..
And sure enough, another pit bull kills a kid: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050518/D8A5MU700.html
