Going on vacation to Riccione (sp?) in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy, only an hour drive away from Modena - the "supercar capital".

Being the hometown of Ferrari, Lamborghini, De Tomaso, Pagani, Ducati, et cetera, et cetera there should be a lot of cool stuff to check out. Do any of these places allow the public into the factory facilities and such?

What are the recommended/mandatory auto related must-sees? :)

Is there a more appropriate forum I could post this in, perhaps?

Are you serious, wetpet? My searching came out empty handed. There were a couple photo threads, none less than three years old. Didn't really do squat for me.

So, what factories are open to visitors? Is there anything left of De Tomaso?

Pics are a must. I have $4-5K in photo gear, and I'm not afraid to use it!

i am very serious. This topic is discussed ad nauseam every month. I personally started a long thread on it two years ago with copious pictures and information. That is probably why no one is responding to your post. Just trying to help you out.

I've been to Riccione a couple of times for BMW-M racetrack driving courses at Misano Adriatico (the local track).

It's a nice place with some nice beaches but nothing amazing IMVHO. There a few nice cars going around in the summer though.

You should go to Maranello and take a look at the Galleria Ferrari (their museum) if you want to see some very special cars. In order to visit the factory you'd need a Ferrari dealer or well connected friends (which can make the procedure much more simple) to set it up for you.

Maranello Rosso (a very nice private collection) in San Marino (not very far away from Riccione) is also worth a visit IMO --> http://www.maranellorosso.com

If you want to see dozens of supercars "in the wild" you should spend a day in Monaco ;)

    Enjoy your trip.

NEAR RICCIONE YOU CAN GO TO VISIT IN SAN MARINO THE MARANELLO ROSSO COLLECTION, IT IS VERY NICE.
BUT I do not think possible to visit working Factories without being invited.
Riccione is one of the best sea-side city on the Adriatic sea: a lot of fun is waiting for you !!!
    Wellcome i Italy !!

Awesome feedback, guys! Cool to hear from locals, too! :)

I think the Ferrari factory is ruled out. But Lamborghini offers combined museum/factory tours, pricing is on their website.

Galleria Ferrari and Maranello Rosso is definitively on the list. Heck, San Marino could be a bit of an attraction by itself? I also found what's called the Panini Maserati Museum in Modena, is that the best place dedicated to Maserati? Also, Maserati factory tours are reserved for owners and can only be arranged through authorized dealers.

What about AutoSpeak, is that a dealership? Worth seeing? Where is the Pagani factory/HQ located? How about De Tomaso, is there anything left to see?

How about all the eminent coachbuilders? Are they all located around Milan and Turin?

And what about B. Engineering? Bandini Automobili? ATS? Nardi? OSCA? Automobili Stanguellini? (They're all located in the Emilia-Romagna vicinity!)

I also have a thing for Iso Rivolta, where can I find museums featuring these fine automobiles?

The Ferrari factory tour seems like a tedious process. Screw that.

Moreover, the (free) Ducati factory/museum tour is closed throughout August.

How about Laverda motorcycles? Supposedly they have a big anniversary celebration this weekend!

And don't spear on the information, so that this thread can help others in the future!

In Norway, there never was an authorized Ferrari dealership.

The Mario Righini Collection looks immensely interesting... it's a slap in the face that it's not open to the public!!

Oh, and are there any museums dedicated to De Tomaso? Address?

san Marino it s really a very nice one day trip. The old city is on the top of the mountain but the museum is down on the road from Rimini to RSM.
The visit of Ferrari factory is really
    intersting. expecilally the new line
    of production of California.
very different from other production lines. 2 months ago I have tken some pictures but it is forbidden so they have compelled me to delete.
Unfortunately I do not know all the address and possibility to visit all the other musem of other italian historical brands....I know only that Pininfarina near Turin has a museum of their cars and also Bertone in same area.
    Enjoy Riccione and
Enjoy your Holiday in Italy !!!
    ciao

you ask of Ferrari and sports cars dealers in Modena and
I cantell you that in the Via Emilia Road you find in few hundred meters Ferrari officlal Dealer Motor, Autoluce and Autospeak.
in the center of Modena you can find Ferri automobili and out of Modena, about 15 or 20 km for the
classic cars you can visit Best Cars. Usually the it. dealers have not very large show.room as I have seen in fort Lauderdale and Miami.....but their selection of cars
    is always interesting......for me.
