I am going to track the 360 about 72 hours later, but today i got a small nail in the tire. I had it patched and I thought I sure would replace the tires before the track day. However, i got a bad news from the tire company as they said they ran out of my size and the first delivery will be about 1 week later Should I go track the car with a patch or should I wait for the new tires? The track I am going to is a small one and the fastest one can go usually is 165 mph (260-270 km per hour). The tires are less than 1000 miles on regular driving conditions
no 360 will hit 165 on a small track...much less a big track...My stradale only got to 159 at Daytona
Yes, right decision, please wait. Two years ago my colleague had had an accident on track because of tire damage, his GT3 was total loss.
Exactly... Here in LA, AAA Fontana is the largest track we got, and on the roval bank my 550M, F430, and Scuderia maybe top off to reach 160MPH on speedo (Actual speed is less). If you are in China, I tracked once a F430 in Shanghai F1 circuit which may also be the largest track in China where the F430 stock can reach 130MPH front straight, and 160MPH on the back straight if that you are talking about... its a private track near beijing i was invited to. I asked the guy who tracked there what's the fastest you ever go immediately after I got the tire issue and he said 165mph (his f430 is a US spec) never tracked, got a little excited
tian2bing, what tires are you using? Theres lots of tires in Shanghai which can be couriered to u within 3 days. Keep the excitment up.
you caught my memory. A little story about my fontana california speedway experience That was in 2002, 12 years ago I was driving my friend's old ford probe. The car is considered old even in 2002. I was driving by california speedway and stopped at the entrance, u know what, nobody's guarding it. I was in college and after about 1 sec of not-so-mature judgement, i thought nobody's going to shoot me for trespassing a track...... i entered with normal speed and it looked like nobody's around. AND I ENTER THE TRACK WITHOUT NOBODY ASKING A QUESTION I didn't know why nobody's around but it just happened. I drive cautiously without going too fast fearing hitting some walls and making a scene, but I did rev the engine up to the redline 1 lap later I exited and drove off....... so excited, the excitement is still vivid in my memory. On my way back to Los Angeles on CA91, if my memoery serves me, the car stopped working. Back to LA and get the mechanic check out, blown head gasket. replaced gasket and that cost me about sub-2000...... that's a big ouch for me in 2002. well I guess you need to pay to play....
just recalled that on CA91, the owner of the car, my friend, borrowed another friend's mercedez with a rope. Towed the car to the nearest town on local roads(not on freeway, that is) I can't remember the city's name but maybe san bernadino, and that's where the head gasket got replaced. En route we were pulled over by the cop and were told this is illegal towing. Without even giving us a warning, he introduced a "cheap" shop saying "best bang for your money" and "be very careful" and that's where we were landed. I guess the cop can understand the financial conditions of college students.....
Hahahaha... Thanks Tian for sharing the interesting story... I live about 30 minutes drive from my house to Fontana. The AAA Roval track is one of my favorite track in which I go any chance I get. It is costy to run cars in a circuit not to mention about broken parts, just wear items such as tires, brake pads, rotors and fluids change.. etc... But, at the end of the day, the smile and the exciting driving experience all worth it to cover up the cost. Note: `IF YOU COME BACK SAFELY, AND BRINGS THE CAR THE WAY IT WAS` Cheers... Lin Alex
I will still go if I were you... just take it real easy don't drive too fast and many cool down lap in between. will be awesome just being there.
