+1 fantastic photos I am almost tempted to change my Fchat name to Fellituzzi (Fellini fantuzzi). Here is another photo of this Fantuzzi body taken in Europe a few years ago when already refitted on its current chassis 8733GT. Copyright unknown. best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cyril Yes, I am sure. In the late 1970s I visited Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Modena many times and saw the old 330 LMB bodywork being prepared for the re-installation on Violati's car. Of course, the body had to be refurbished and repaired but it is not a replica body. Marcel Massini
Thank you Marcel for the nice b&w photos with the Fantuzzi car and for the infos. Here is #4381SA in Le Mans 1963. Pierre Noblet, one of the pilots is on the left. The second photo is #4381SA again, with Fabrizio Violati at the Mas-Du-Clos racetrack in 1987. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This really is a fantastic thread. The 330 LMB is a favorite and I love Drogo and Fantuzzi bodied Ferraris. That gold car is awesome. Imagine seeing that car in the 60s! It looked sooo futuristic. About as eye popping as a lime green Miura.
I'm not wishing to be pedantic but was the first owner CroMograph or CroNograph? It is listed as both in this thread and as CroNograph in Raab's list of serial numbers. Paul
My dearest Paul: "N". Thank you so much for making me aware of this and please accept my deepest personal apologies for the massive error (post #69). The Italian registration document in post #70 has it right, of course. Marcel Massini
330 TR LM #0808 TR is the OTHER 4-liter Ferrari which was ALSO rebodied by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi. Ed Niles is absolutely correct that the SPIDER Fantuzzi body (gold painted) was first installed on 0808 TR (July 1963), but shortly thereafter it was taken off again (early 1964) and put onto #4381 SA (the 330 LMB). 0808 TR then received a new COUPE body by Fantuzzi and in 1965 went to Hisashi Okada, the Japanese businessmann resident in New York. Below is an old bw photo of 0808 TR with the Fantuzzi Coupé body when owned by Okada. As is well known this car (0808 TR) then went in 1974 via Stanley Nowak to Pierre Bardinon who had 0808 TR restored back to original configuration with an entire new body made by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi. The Fantuzzi Coupé body coming from 0808 TR was then installed on another chassis (250 GT Coupé Pinin Farina #1087 GT). I took the color photos of 1087 GT with the Fantuzzi Coupé body in September 1981 during the Raid Ferrari D'Epoca meeting in Modena, when Sauro Mingarelli of Bologna showed the car. Thank you, Marcel and others. Amazing that there would be so many body-swaps. And why re-body a 330LMB, one of the prettiest of them all? Oh well.
Dave hasn't been on I have seen...his son passed away and that's the last time we talked, via email..
That's terrible: my condoleances mr Seibert. Awkward to post trivial car photos after news like that but neverthelss here are some, they are not as significant as the superb archive photos Marcel recently posted here but relevant nonetheless: they show the close sibling, in terms of design, of the gold spyder: this is 2235GT also done by Fantuzzi in the same era, this time for Chinetti. These are photos I took at Moroso during a Cavallino Classic at some point in the 1990's: the theme is the same... but not executed as well. It was owned in partnership by several gentleman, the main one of whom was David Berger of south Florida who passed away in recent years. It has a roll bar which could certainly be a life saver but spoils the lines morre than a little. My article on it was in a Prancing Horse in 94 or 95 with a period race poster drawing on the cover: feel free to repoduce those photos here if desired: don't have a copy of it here. Now that 8733 is also red (alas) this might help avoiding confusion. Right enough for today! best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a photo posted by Tom Berlin somewhere on Fchat. #2235GT at the New-York autoshow in 1966. The car looks eleganter in grey with the thin bumpers. Unfortunatelly, they are missing today. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Marc was one of the owners in the group its current owner from PA of 2235gt? As I spoke with the owner at a show here in PA a few years back, and he told me he has owned the car 15 years at that time IIRC. Erik
Am I the only, one who thinks that busting other people's nicks is really rude? The problem within is that once anonymity is phished, their all earlier messages get "signed" which may cause some problems (which may be intentional, off course). Best wishes, Kare
I remember at the FCA national in 1979 (Elkhart Lake/Road America) a rebodied red Ferrari that looked similar to these was in attendance. I can't remember the owner exactly but think it was either Dyke Ridgely or Hugh Ruthven. Can anyone piece that information to a specific serial number? Jeff
Hugh Ruthven still owns it, but its a berlinetta on chassis 0977GT by Drogo. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2009 model/photography contest and art show-Chicago April 25th 2009-Continental Autosport Ferrari/Maserati
Giotto: Thanks for that very nice photo had never seen it before! Teenferrarifan: well mister Berger also had a home up in PA and he car was shown and or raced at a vintage race in an urban park there. He was a nice unusual character, the other partners in the car only drove it once as the noise of the car unnerved them. He raced it at Sebring and Mount Equinox hillclimb in New England. His daughter wasd like him, met her when he invited me to a new years eve at his house, in Delray beach or therabouts. I asked her what her occupation was and she said I bodysurf in Mexico....! The car Hugh Ruthven has is very interesting and he has driven it a huge amount of miles. I did a story for the Ferrari Market Letter back in 97 or 98, Marcel had provided some Drogo archive shots I think. best regards, Marc
