Any of you guys have the problem with piling up golf clubs in the garage? I started looking around at garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores for older vintage style clubs about two years ago. When I had acquired about 4 sets in the garage my wife asked me what I intended to do with them. I told her I was going to sell them on Ebay. Well guess what, not one club has made it to Ebay yet. Now I have about 14 full sets with bags lining the inside of the garage. My wife now eyes them while standing there with her arms crossed and tapping her foot. But I have a hard time of letting go of some of the old clubs I could not afford to buy in the 60's and 70's that I can buy for a song now. I have even picked up Taylor Made Burners for under $5 and Big Berthas for the same. I have one matching full set of Palmer blade irons that I have paired with a matching four club set of Hogan woods. And quite a few more.............Help, I think I need counseling......

Technically, you're a "collector" now;) There's actually a store nearby that sells used clubs in good condition. You could go in that direction--lots of duffers out there with missing clubs. I had to replace a wedge from my Tommy Armour 855's and found out those had been discontinued when the company was bought out. This was the only place I could find one.

I hit Armour 845's myself. Do you still need an 855? If so, I will keep my eyes open for one. Which wedge, pitching, sand, 60%? My 845's have graphite shafts. Are yours steel or graphite?

First of all I expected to see some awesomely nasty pictures but I digress. If keeping full sets are important, keep your top 5. If keeping sets isn't so important, keep a bag full of your favorite clubs. Other than that, buy your wife a larger house and tell her you have 5 good years of her not complaining about junk, space, storage etc.

I was in the local Golfsmith store last night, and they had 3 sets of Armor 845 Silverscots for $60 each. I was seriously tempted to buy them for my kids. But I didn't.

Thanks, but I found a replacement. I have a 14-iron set with stiff steel shafts. A friend of mine got the set for me years ago--"no questions asked";) Brand new with a Tommy Armour lite-bag, I paid $275, in the wrappers. At the time I was playing a set of 845s, but couldn't pass this up. The set includes 1-P, a Heater driving iron and 3 additional wedges. I have four wedges (48, 52, 56 & 60). I love the set.

When I was in high school I bought a backup set of irons from our club pro. They were Armour blades with stiff shafts, and learning on these was probably the best thing I could have done. I think the biggest dividends were paid with my long irons, sinced the cavity irons are so much softer and more forgiving.
