Sabatini showed he has no manners to go along with his short temper. I hope he is fined until it hurts. It was not the action of a professional. Granted, Crane is slow, but rude is rude and it was wrong and inappropriate.

i would have to agree...that was just rude to go ahead like that...and to shoot when it wasn't even is turn...and also to tee off before crane did even though crane beat him on the previous hole...thats a seems a little rude to me.

Hmm...interesting... He's always seemed nice. He used to date one of my old roommates. Once, he bought her a set of diamond earrings that were probably worth more than the Toyota Tercel she was driving around in...I thought that was pretty funny.

I can understand Sabatini being miffed because Crane plays really slowly. They had been put on the clock at least once during the round. Both players are penalized for slow play even if the fault lies with just one of the players, so Sabatini has a point.

However, they were not being timed on the 17th hole. The group in front was not a hole ahead so there was not an open hole in front of them. Sabatini was hacked because of his bogey at 15. His behavior was childish. Granted, Crane plays as slow as Nicklaus without the talent, but Sabatini was out of line.

I would imagine Sabatini will be looking at a fine this week. But at the same time, Crane needs to take case of business and not put his playing partners in such a position of being timed.

I don't know much about the Sabatini episode specifically...just breifly heard about it.

However, I've been in that situation before myself. The whole group gets penalized regardless of the offender. 2 strokes can easily make the difference of making the cut (and $) and not.

I understand his frustration but he perhaps too it a little too far....

I don't see Sabatini did anything wrong. So he got in the line of Crane for one shot - Crane screwed with Sabatini's rhythm for 17 holes.

    From a different viewpoint:

You're driving your Ferrari down a nice, windy, country road - speed limit 45 and you happen upon someone going 40 (which is fully legal, by the way). How do you act? After five minutes of this, the road opens up to two lanes - and you do what? downshift, blow doors by them and at least mutter some choice words at them. Close to what Rory did?

There's no regulation for hitting turns. It's just against etiquette/manner. The regulation is on time which allowed to finish a hole. (unless they changed that since '90's) I read about it in the article of G. Norman & Ballerstillos (sp?), Apparently Ballerstillos was known for slow play, and no one wanted to play w/ him.

Crane & Sabbatini are apparently friends & lives in the same neighbors here in TX. That may factored in Sabbatini for his behavior. Anyway he apologized to Crane, and the matter seems resolved between the two.

I personally don't understand players who takes more than 5 minutes between shots (assuming you're using a cart, & the ball is visible for next shots) I hate players who read lines on the green when their turn comes up!
