Picked up a new set 2 years ago and used them 4 times. I'm told I have a good swing and use proper clubs for what I do. I do have a slight problem with club selection though. I can hit the balls pretty hard and somtimes I will smash one too far. So I just take "a poke at the ball". As for clubs, I have steel shafts on the irons and graphite for the woods. I wouldn't want to snap a club because I came on to the ball too hard. I really need to play 20-25 rounds a year for a couple of years to enjoy it again. I have been to the range twice this year. I need free bloody time!
I've got a real mix, and I don't really like any of them. Driver - Callaway Hawkeye - [shrug], it's ok 3-wood - Ping I3 with steel shaft - this used to be my favorite club; I love the steel shaft on a wood Adams TightLies 18 degree Rescue Club - crap irons and UW, SW - Ping I3, black dot (I need red, getting black was a mistake); nevertheless, these aren't that bad; I like the SW for everything inside 100 yds, including chipping. Lob wedge - BRZ Cleveland 60 degree; I love this club in the sand Putter - the only club I really like - custom Scotty Cameron - 33 inches, 2 degree flat lie. I've gotten a belly putter and a Ping, and they both sit in a closet. I love the soft feel on the SC.

john that's awesome. I used to be down there, sometimes I wonder what it would take for me to get it back. Now I play at 18, mostly due to a short game that has gone to hell, and not being able to control anything above a 4 iron.

In a friend's backyard in NJ months ago, i hit a ball with a titanium driver... Then i gave my clubs away... It's either titanium or nothing and since titanium is too expensive, it'll be nothing for now... ...besides, my short game is absolutely horrible...
Actually, I hated it at first but after going to the putting green every afternoon for a couple of weeks, I got used to it and stopped pushing the ball...try one and you'll know what I mean. Now I love it. I feel like I can make putts. DL

Not to get off the subject but I just wanted to share this find. Here are pictures of Tiger Woods practicing off the helideck of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, UAE. Taken when Tiger was in Dubai for the Desert Classic, March 2, 2004. He received a $1 million appearance fee, and he gets to hit golfballs from the tallest hotel in the world.

Vincent, when I was in high school I played on the golf team. That meant that I got to play 5+ days per week. Doing that for 4 years really helped solidify the fundamentals. Now, all it takes is a tad over a week of practice to get my A- game back.
