Anyone recommend a hand car wash in the local newport area (daily driver type thing)?

    Thanks!

The Car Spa does hand washes on request. They do a good job.

Or have a mobile detailer like myself who come to your home or office.

I highly recommend Mr Shine, "The Ultimate Exotic Car Detailer" on 1540 Superior Ave in Costa Mesa. Jose is a great guy, and i believe even factory trained Lambo and F-car technician.
He takes car of Mc F1's, Enzo's, F50 and 40's etc, so you can rest assured the work will be flawless!
I've had him do several of my cars, and they come out perfect. Made my 3 hour attempts at detailing look like nothing.

Thanks for all the tips everyone, I'm going to try the Car Spa - Don't really need a detailer, it's just our daily drivers.

    Car Spa SUCKS!!!

Years ago, they did good work. Now, they are too crowded, too busty and do crappy work. Their quality used to be above average but is now no better than a Beacon Bay, etc.

I used to have their "membership" on two of my cars and found that especially on busy days the service was "wham, bam thank 'ya ma'am" with water spots, streaks, etc.

The final straw was going in on a Saturday in a BMW 745Li and their entrance area was a complete logjam because they were so busy. Some ackjass in a Range Rover needed to back out of line (guess he changed his mind) and caused a major clusterf**k. One of their minimum wage car polishers began guiding me backwards and caused me to back into another car causing about $2000 damage to my car. Sure, I was behind the wheel (that was their argument) but as soon as their employee began guiding me, he essentially became my "eyes" for rearward vision and continued to instruct me to keep backing up until I hit the car behind me. PDC was going nuts in all directions, so it was useless - it was that tight.

Car Spa = crap service and crap quality work. Period. If you love your car, find a good mobile detailer. Period. I've been using the same one for 2 years and been very happy. They come to my house every Friday morning at 7am and 60 minutes later I have 2 clean cars in my garage.

On the other hand, if you can put up with crappy service but need a place to be "seen" in your high-end car, Car Spa may be the place for you if you are willing to put up with the BS. If you consider going to the car wash a social event, car Spa is definitely the place for you. Frankly, I laugh when I drive past them and see a 360, 430, etc being washed. In fact I even saw a Carrera GT being washed there once. ;)

True about the "Be seen" for some people.

A lady friend of mine has a Range Rover and says when she goes by herself she gets hit on so hardcore it's disgusting. And she is only 18, I've heard it's almost the new place for singles who are looking. Like how gym's have become...
