Good deal on a 2016 California T

All they list is the MSRP of $259k, no asking price?

 

Hum that is around $50K less that the local Ferrari dealer is asking for similar cars - makes one wonder?

 

Very nice car. From the description, does not appear to have the full power heated seat option, which is unusual for a high sticker car like that. Living in the northeast, I would not buy a convertible without heated seats, as it's great to turn those on, put the heat on and the top down when the temperature is 45 or above. Really extends the driving season.

Have also noticed that when the car does not have the heated seats the dealers often manage to carefully crop the photos of the interior so you can't see the side of the seats and know for sure ; )

Still amazes me that on a $200k plus car you have to pony up extra to have the seats heated.

 

It's not 50K off. Jump out to Car Guru. You will find a large number of California T's. Far more than last year at this time. The 2016 are less than the 2015. Most of the 2016 have less options than 2015.

This looks like clean California that is fairly priced. The real question is does it have the options you want. Color, Magnaride, Carbon, Foot rests, Leather seat backs, leather headliner, full electric seats, sports exhaust, SF badge, chrome grill... What options do you want, what options does the car have.

With Ferrari its all about finding one with the options you want.

This car is a nicely configured for a nice price. Nothing to wonder about. I want to see the car that is $50K over this. That one will make me wonder.

 

Ferrari of Seattle has a 2016 black with only 500 miles for $288,881. I know not apples to apples as the car in question has more miles....

 

Big difference. Car Guru says its over priced by $44.2K Ouch. It's the highest price California T on Car Guru.

 

There is a really nice looking setup for $180K on car guru. You just have to find the right car for yourself.

 

This is why FOS rarely sells cars - they have become a museum because their cars are so overpriced...

 

Actually, I also opted out of the full power seats when I spec'd my car. I wanted the heated seat feature but when I tried a '12 Cali with the full power seats, I could not find a comfortable seat setting while the standard seats on other Calis I tried were comfortable.

I also live in snow country and drive with the top down till it goes down to around 7-8°C (44.5-46°F). Unheated seats are not an issue for me because when I get in my car, it's already warm since I garage my car and never park for very long periods during my drives. It would be different if the car sits for long periods outside in the cold, especially if Winter driven. I have no plans to put Winter tires on my Cali.

In retrospect, it might have been preferable to spec racing seats as power features add significant weight (motors) and bulk. Most "proper" sports cars do not use power seats; LaF doesn't. What I did ask for was a heated steering wheel but they were not offered. I wear nice driving gloves but a heated steering wheel would have been wonderful.

so, $60k below sticker ASKING PRICE? Wow, nice starting point for negotiations. But, looking at it, if one can order a brand new one to one's own spec for $260k, it should take a healthy discount to get down to a used one spec'd by someone else.

But, thinking about it more...the raw $ numbers are huge, but the % is not startling at all.

$60k on a $260k sticker is 23% below sticker price for a used car. Other than (some) Ferrari's, who doesn't expect a 20%+ "drive it off the lot" fall in value?

Some people have gotten used to (or more likely frankly, they hope for) a small discount to sticker when they trade their lightly used Ferrari in. Except for (1) the limited edition cars, and (2) the early cars in a new/re-freshed car, I think that simply isn't reality. The Cali hasn't depreciated much differently that a Porsche. Its not in MBZ or Maser territory, but it ain't a Speciale or early 488 (to use a couple of examples).

 

What makes that the best in the country? Sounds very subjective.
